Mark no. I wasted a lot of his time with the baguette halo and I don''t want to waste his time further at this time.
Quest yes. WF... yes.

I will also ask Maytal if it can be done is WG for less. Leon doesn''t work in WG.

Gypsy,
Just throwing out a thought here: I too don''t mind WG as it is cheaper and very shiny(no patina) but doesn''t your design have pave work? I''ve read numerous times here that for pave work, platinum is recommended as a better (ie stronger) metal.

I think platinum with pave is easier for the jeweler to work with. But I know that Sundial has a HOF pave white gold ring and seems to have had no problems at all. I think maybe white gold might be better for not losing stones since it is harder. Ask Maytal, she'll know. I'd really love a ring made by her.

See. THIS is why I post on here.

I thought about it overnight and decided that:

1) It doesn''t do anything for my asscher.

2) The proportions of the sides are a little big.

3) I don''t love it.

I still like it a LOT.

But it''s not IT.

I''m going NOT going to be wishy washy (lmao Chrono).

And a since the lot of you have WONDERFUL taste. And have sets that I love. And have waited for them... I''m going to go with the majority here and suck it up.

Honestly, if it there isn''t a BIG cost savings (800) I will probably go with Leon because this is perfect for him.

My other option, of course... would be to get gold with Maytal. Which might actually be better for this project as the shank is plain and therefore would bang up less with gold.

Special thanks for Turtle... who while loving the Speyer settings (and owning one)... agreed that this didn''t do anything for my asscher.

As for the Nashville wedding. We are still considering it-- it''s our first choice. But I have an idea I want to pop on John when he''s feeling better (he''s ill right now). I was thinking of just going down to city hall when his mother flys in next month (August 8-14) and getting married-- my parents in attendance as well. Just something short and quick. Maybe in my parent''s backyard. No formal photography or anything (although I''m getting my peony bouquet darn it!). And then doing a vow re-newal ceremony and reception next year in Nashville. I''m not completely sold on it myself, but have a week or so to mull it over.

The reason I''m not sold on it is because I''m afraid it will be like this Temp setting. We''ll keep delaying the vow renewal b/c it will become a low priority to throw a lot of $$ on a big party when we are already married.
Aw, Gypsy, you''re welcome! We all just want you to get what you really want.

As for the wedding/reception ideas, I think you need to do what you and John really, truly want for that as well. Just be sure you''ll be happy with your decision, and everything will work out. Just let us Nashville gals know how we can help if/when the time comes!

I think it's rather hilarious that I didn't like the setting much when everyone loved the picture, and now that it's been called in and there's a real photo of it I love it and everyone dislikes it. Ah, that cracks me up. Maybe I have bad taste. heehee. At least, not normal taste.

I do love that mockup of lovey's halo with a plain shank too, of course. Right up my alley. But that Speyer definitely surprised me.

FG,
It''s not that I dislike it the Speyer setting. I love it (with the ribbon prongs shaved down). It''s just that I can see why Gypsy prefered the halo after seeing the picture she posted. It''s a very different look and I understand what she is looking for now.

I agree -- I actually think the setting is beautiful (the SS rings I have seen are really nice). I just don''t like it with an asscher ... and I think the side stones are too big with respect to the size of Gypsy''s asscher. I think a halo would really complement the asscher and help with the DSS.

I like the speyer too. A LOT. But Deco really drove the point she was making home about the similarities between my current setting and this one. Neither really makes my stone stand out the way I''d like. I thought this would... but as it''s been pointed out, the proportions of the sides really don''t allow for that.

Yes, I was just under the impression that Gypsy no longer wanted a halo after all that drawn out baguette halo with a million different iterations saga. I was surprised to see lovey's halo come back out again after Gypsy falling in love with the Speyer setting. To me it indicated she wanted to go in a completely different direction. That seems not to be the case.

I definitely have a new appreciation for the Speyer though..cuz while I wasn't as vocal about how much I hated the picture...I totally hated it and was shocked at how pretty it really was!

Gypsy, dont settle on something just because your dream setting is a bit more than you thought it would be. Remember that people like Leon will give you the very best pave/millegrain, etc. You would be getting the very best there is! I think the Speyer is nice, but not fabulous! And when you compare it to your dream halo setting, there is simply NO comparison! Wait for what you really want honey. Seriously. This is your forever ring. You want this setting upgrade to really be "it", yes? I agree with others, get quotes from the other three places and compare. In the end, if they''re all comparable, I''d of course give it to LM...

LOL. It wasn''t so much that I was getting away from halos. I just DID NOT want a custom project. I was looking for any stock settings I liked within my price range. And i really liked this one. But it just isn''t right for my diamond.

I was playing with Irina on this idea after I saw this Tacori setting and fell in love with the top view and Idea of it. But not the execution.

I definitely concur that unless you have a honking enormous asscher, a halo is a great way to go to get more face up mileage out of your stone. Hands down. I agree it would have been nice to get a stock halo setting - there are definitely more of those out there now than when I got my halo made, but unfortunately not exactly how you want it.

I think that some of the intricate and beautiful settings we love and want here on PS are getting more and more costly than settings used to be and, along with that pricetag, comes the feeling that ''this better be for forever'' because it''s a huge undertaking, emotionally AND financially. That carries with it its own can of worms....decision paralysis because *omg* this is forever! It''s amazing anyone can make a decision anymore. Seriously!

I hope you get some quotes in wg that you find suitable...!!
