Agreed. Very neat ring...but not for my sausagey fingers.

This is beautiful if you like yellow

This is just too much for my daily life. For the weekends though.. :naughty: I feel like I am conflicted about what I love visually versus what I think is REASONABLE. I mean, imagine me walking around Home Depot with that honker on?? I wear my jewelry. I don't keep it hidden in a safe.

Yeah I saw that you were switching out the halo-to bad the thing eats up most of the budget since you'd probably want to reset it. I'll keep searching. The good news is with your budget as long as you don't mind the wait/search you'll find the PERFECT ring just for you.

To bad the AVC with the french cut setting that a PSer sold is already gone. The setting went quickly and the stone recently sold as well-that ring was perfection. But I think you could easily have GOG remake a setting like that (or VC or anyone else you like except Leon since he won't touch the AV line)

That 5 carat AVR + a setting like that = my dream ring

There are some lovely gorgeous large stones out there. One that comes to mind is justginger's "poppy." But, do you want a large, unique cut stone in a simple setting or are you looking to "pizzazz" up the stone with a unique setting?

You nailed it. I want pizzazz from the stone... but a simplier more straightforward setting.

And Poppy is just about perfect in my eyes. Imagine that GOG in a Poppy-esq setting... though I may prefer to do a buttery yellow gold instead.

If I remember correctly, OWD had their bench create the setting. Something to talk to them about! Also, I LOVE the JBEG options. You must be a kid in a candy store!

Eh, it's complicated. There's a somewhat bitter back story at the moment.

Do you have experience with this seller...?

This is great though I wish it had a bit chunkier faceting... with all the recutting going on these days on PS...the possibilities are endless.

They used to be a PS seller. I didn't particularly, personally, care for them. I thought that they weren't as transparent as they could be and that you had to to some due diligence on your own by getting everything in writing and getting an appraisal. But they do have a return policy and good pricing and some people were very happy with them.

10K over budget, but for an almost four carat Tiffany Legacy .... http://www.oakgem.com/Products/Tiff....81ct_I_VS2_Diamond_Engagement_Ring_8208.aspx

It's a size 4.5... I'm a size 7.5. Probably can't size that, right?

Tiff's is too inconsistent in their policies to depend on it: sometimes they'll even remake a piece entirely, but sometimes ... you're just out of luck. Too risky.

So, then, what about this? http://jewelry.1stdibs.com/jewelry_item_detail.php?id=47434 3.03 I VS2, GIA certed, in a Deco setting, with what looks to me like a very nice cut. On the one hand, it's no 11 mm ... on the other hand, wearable, still very impressive, and beautiful.

Have you had a chance to try things on? We all have our own quirks. Me, I think anything wider than my nailbed looks odd on me, so I top out around 9 mm or so. Go try some things on and maybe bring some fun into the process! 50K is a lot to spend without assuaging one's bitterness ....

I have tried on several rings but finding ones of this size and general requirements is not the easiest. The bitterness is just frustration because we might end up spending considerably more because SO wanted to surprise and return policies aren't all they're cracked up to be. Either way, I'm loving some of these options being posted... :D

How about if you identify a few rings you like, and let SO choose from among those?

If an antique ring is a possiblity, could you to make a trip to Lang's, or SingleStone, or some of the other antique jewelry Mecca's to make up your wish list?

What I meant was a ring has already been purchased... and has been returned. The ;( is about the headache of doing so.
