GIA report with AGS Ideal Addendum - cross referencing

GIA acquired AGS light performance cut grading technology in 2022 and soon began offering AGS Ideal addendum reports for qualifying diamonds.

However, it was not obvious to anyone looking at a GIA report that an addendum report was available, as the AGS grade does not appear on the main GIA report. At some point last year GIA did start referencing the AGS Ideal report in the bottom left of the main report, and the QR code will pull up a page where both reports are clearly accessible.

For some reason, not all GIA reports have the reference statement, even when an addendum report is available. However, the QR code should still pull it up.

Just to add, originally the AGS Ideal addendum report was only available as a digital report. It now comes in hard copy as well.

How GIA has handled their AGS purchase is clearly a concession to companies who do NOT want buyers to know there is better cut quality than a GIA Ex Ex Ex.
"Obviously GIA bought AGS so they could hush up its cut-grading superior and more-ethical competitor.

As always, follow the money.
GIA cares more about profits from their professional clients who submit diamonds for grading, than protecting end-consumers from inferior cut!

GIA knows there is better cut than their so-called GIA EX EX EX, et they continue to grade them, EX EX EX.
That's deceptive!!!

"Can't beat 'em? ......... Don't join em .......... Buy 'em".

IMO, this deception is why GIA's non-profit status should be revoked.
They are profiting from and getting away with a con job.
Con is short for confidence, and GIA commands confidence, in spades!

That's why GIA should pay taxes, just other for-profit businesses.

I don't think so Kenny. If they wanted to deep six the AGS technology they would not have implemented the AGS Ideal report at all.

I think this is a case of them taking baby steps towards full implementation. GIA has never been known to make sudden moves!

By providing the AGS Ideal report for truly Excellent diamonds (even if they are not promoting it agressively at this point), GIA has segmented their EX grade and solved the problem of it being overly broad and forgiving. This gives consumers looking for the best cut quality better information and more options, and gives manufacturers interested in upping their game something to shoot for to increase their value proposition.

Adding AGS without blowing up the existing EX category also help preserve the "EX" status of all their previously graded diamonds so it's "backwards compatible"...
