Boston--Can consumers spot the difference between an ideal cut Lazare diamond and a similar, but not equal, stone? Massachusetts retailer Long’s Jewelers is about to find out, courtesy of the “Boston Diamond Challenge.”
During the month of September, Long’s is inviting consumers to stop at any of its five stores and compare two diamonds side by side, a Lazare diamond and another stone, and see if they can pick out which one is the Lazare stone.
Regardless of whether they answer correctly, consumers automatically will be entered to win a $15,000 platinum and diamond engagement ring from Long’s and diamond supplier Lazare Kaplan, simply for taking a guess.
In addition to driving traffic to its five Boston-area locations, the idea behind the contest is to show people the difference between two different types of stones and start an educational discussion about what to look for in a diamond.
In addition to the engagement ring, there are four runner-up prizes from contest sponsors: a watch from TAG Heuer, scotch and steak at The Capital Grille for the contestant and five friends, a Weber grill from Yale Appliance and a wireless speaker and headphone package from Bowers & Wilkins.
Long’s Jewelers posted information about the contest on LongsJewelers.com, including links for consumers to share the contest on Twitter and Facebook.
