Why did Al have to send her pendant? Isn''t the wax done by CAD/CAM? Wouldn''t they already have the specs computerized so they just make the changes to fit your exact stone? Maybe I have a very simplistic idea of how it''s all done, but I would think they would just pull up the information from Al''s pendant, tweak the measurements a bit, and the CAD would do the calculations in a flash. No?

I''m not sure but I think the wax is broken after a custom order is completed?? They asked for it and she was so kind to send it.

This piece was not computer-assisted, it was handmade. We could get very close, but this gesture by Aljdewey will allow our craftsmen to replicate it as closely as possible.

My understanding is that Kaleigh contacted Alj to ask if she minded having her pendant replicated. This was extremely polite. In further discussions Alj graciously offered to us to send it in to use as a precision-model. One good turn deserves another (PS people can be the very best).

Actually, the wax is melted away when they make casting, but that does not explain why the actual information is not saved in the computer so they could spit out another wax at a later time. Know what I mean? That sure was nice of Al though to give up her gorgeous pendant for a while. Can''t wait to watch the progress, Kaleigh. Do you have a timeframe?

i have no idea if this is correct or not, but i''m thinking if it was NOT computer-assisted, then it stands to reason there could be no record of the creation process in the computer? since it was hand-made?

dl, I don''t think they did a cad/cam. sounds like they made the wax by hand too??

My lily pendant is like that. the wax was hand carved, no computer image to spit out another.

and I agree, very nice of AL..girlscout honor badge should be awarded

I too was inspired by Alj''s beautiful pendant and had WF begin a custom halo pendant for me last month. I should be getting a picture of the wax sent over as we speak. What a doll of you to offer to send back your pendant for Kaleigh''s project- the generosity of the folks here continues to amaze and humble me.

I love to live vicariously through everyone''s diamond projects!

Thanks!! Yes fatafelice has one too. Isn''t it a great look?? I have admired this for a looong time, and am so happy to finally be able to have one too!!! Hubby says this is it!!! I just laugh!!!
