Florescense? What is it?

Ok...don''t even know if I spelled this term correctly, which should give you some indication that I do not have a clue what it means? Is is good? Bad? Does it really matter? Does it really effect the price of the stone? I have noticed that some PS''ers state that they either do or don''t have this, and it shows up on the cert...any kind and patient souls care to explain? This must be old hat to many of you, but any info would be appreciated...Thanks.
