I was just wondering if your engagement rings were financed or cashed out? If it was financed, who did you finance it through?

Cash. But I got it AFTER we got married. We are about to celebrate out two year anniversary and we purchased it in December.

Most of us here advocate only buying luxury goods if you can pay in cash and then upgrading when you can afford it. But if you absolutely need to finance it, I would only do it if you can put it on a 0% CC and then pay it off before the 0% deal expires.

But that is just me!

me too!

We wired a deposit on the stone to hold it, got the rest of the cash and wired the balance. It was in a temp setting; I had to wait 4 months before we could start the process of getting the setting.

My stone is now with Maytal... gave her a deposit, will save up the remaining while she is working on it then pay the rest when we pick it up.

We had to save up, but it''s worth the wait to get exactly what I wanted. I didn''t want to rush and settle for something that was in the budget of available cash at the time and upgrade to what I wanted later, and I certainly did not want my FI to finance it... so waiting and paying cash for what I wanted is a decision I''m VERY happy with... and my FI is too! (even though I did go a bit over budget

My eng. ring was financed, but that was many many years ago before I knew any better. There is no way I''d finance any jewelry now

We didn't use finance either.

I would say if you can pay cash its better. But thats just my opinion

Paid in full in cash.

There is no way I would have ever financed a luxury object like an engagement ring.

We financed mine thru where we bought it, I couldnt afford to pay cash

My FI financed my ring through the jeweler we got it from... they offered a couple of different "jewelry credit card" type things with a 0% introductory rate. I really wish we hadn''t financed it now though because we had to transfer the balance and we are still paying it off due to some unforseen circumstances

i pay cash, or i dont buy it. now i was in a jewelry store looking at mountings a month ago, and i asked to see something in the case, then i got serious and said i might come back and buy it. the salesperson said how do you want to pay? i said cash. he actually tried to talk me out of it. said i should finance it through them, and they had some great finance options, then i could keep my money in the bank! does he think im dumb?!?! im buying a mounting, whether i finance it or not, my money is NOT going to be in the bank, it''s going to be paying for this mounting!! they try to make it seem as if by financing you really aren''t paying. i told him flat out, if i had to finance it, i shouldn''t be buying it. enough said. if you dont have a lot to spend on your engagement, just look at other options, other types of stones or maybe just a band until you can upgrade.
