I agree with Dreamer...you are definitely a classy and elegant lady! I can't wait to see what you do with your setting.

Oh, thank you so much!!! I am enjoying this diamond so much! I agonize over choosing the perfect setting, but I really have no idea what it will be! I love the Van C setting, but it has 4 prongs and I really want more protection for the stone than that. I like a lot of other things, but I don't feel like one stands out as being "the one". I guess I am just glad it is in a setting so I can wear and enjoy it in the meantime!

I figured we were talking about the same stone! I did see the 5 ct EC ring and it was amazing! Had it been 3 cts instead of 5, I would have already had it sent to me! I did not see the asscher, unfortunately. If it were me, I'd stick to the OEC for an e-ring and only get the asscher if you can have an extra! I am so tempted, but our last child is going to be a senior next year so we have maybe a trip for her next summer and then college ahead, and I need to watch my spending since I don't work full time anymore!

Yep same stone!!!! It's the extra part that's killing me here.... that and the fact I can't send things back and forth. I have so many good ideas for a setting for it.... damn it. I know I should behave myself and hold out for the perfect OEC. Just the wait is getting to me!!! I wonder if it was a well known pricescoper that bought it then they could dish the goss on the stone!!!

You are the spitting image of a lady who I used to be good friends with btw (we moved so I don't see her any more)... she was lovely so its a good connection....strange, but true. Now I am trying to picture her with an American accent. Now you can try and picture your double with an Aussie accent.

Glad I remind you of a friend! I have a southern US accent, so we definitely would speak differently! I do not know who owned the stone. But I also know the exact setting I would want for it. But I think from here on out I need to look at antique rings that come with nice settings. It is awful to have to spend $4-5k on settings!!!

All the settings I have been looking at lately start at $8500 and go well over the $10 000 mark. Now that is enough to make anyone cry!!! :(( Obviously I need to cheapen my taste or learn to shop somewhere else....

DS, just a side-note ... they can modify their settings! When I was thinking about buying Angeline's (I think it was her's, hope I'm not confused) last year, I called and spoke with Larry, and he told me they could add a bezel to the top of a four prong setting. Dunno if that's the sort of protection you had in mind, but ... I'm sure they could work something out ....

Thanks, Circe! I don't really want a bezel but I need 6 prongs, I think, to protect the stone. I've never seen that ring done with 6 prongs, and it is the unknown part that scares me because I don't like to be a guinea pig on a setting that costs over $4k. But I certainly should ask. Thanks for the suggestion!
