Feather Concern : WF ACA VS1

@gm89uk my stone is an oval. The other stones I have seen with feather damage were RBs but most do get damaged before being marketed and most of the remainder during setting or unsetting but it does occur during wear rarely. It is also true, however, that any diamond, one without any feathers can also get damaged if hit at the right angle with enough force. A scary thought but we must take good care of them and set them in a way that protects them. Even four prongs are good. Bezel if really concerned about the stone in question and using a very very thin layer of 24 K gold or pure silver inside the bezel offers great protection.

Go with one of the 1.4 H VS2 stones! Larger than the G, whiter than the I! Easy choice to me!

Ask them to compare the H stones and see if one is whiter than the other.

I have had stones from F to Y-Z, and yes, you can see the difference in a G versus I. That's why I think H is solves the problem.

If I use their comparison tool and watch all 3 videos at once (I, H, G), then the H looks whiter than the G.

These videos were made at different times, and there may well have been slight variations in position, etc., that might have affected the appearance of the diamonds when viewing the video.

@diamondseeker2006 , above, recommended asking WF to compare the H coloured diamonds to tell you which is whiter.

I completely agree with contacting WF and asking them any and all questions about diamonds you are considering. They can look at the actual diamonds, not simply photos or videos on a computer screen.

If you do inquire about the colour appearance of the I, H and G diamonds, please share their comments. Given that all three diamonds are graded by AGS, I don't think the H would look whiter than the G (upside down, white background, etc.).

However, that doesn't mean that G colour is 'better' than H.

My favorite is the 1.45 I VS1

As usual I'd agree with DS. I'll take the 1.42ct H VS2..

We'll have to wait for @ichibanichiban to update us on his choice, but I noticed last night that the 1.42 ct H VS2 is 'Reserved'. I'm guessing he made his choice. Beautiful stone! Of course, they all are. =)2

Whoa, those look so close to the same. Did you ask them if you can see the color difference in person? I was pretty solid on the H, but that I appears to be close in color to the H and is just a little larger.

Yes we settled on the H. Waiting for it now. While only slightly smaller, she did prefer the smaller size of the 2. At the start of this search we didn’t even think of going above 1.25, but I was originally looking at F VVS’s then !

Got the ring today, and not happy. The first thing I noticed when opening the ring box was a scuff mark in the setting. I’m not sure how something like this can pass WhiteFlash’s quality check, or even their photo team, prior to shipping. Of course in their photos they send I didn’t notice this since they are so highly edited and brightened.

Waiting to hear back from them still.

That should be easily rectified, and although a nuisance, shouldn't take any length of time to sort. More importantly, how is the diamond?

Things happen to the best of companies.
The response by the company is what's important, and WF has a strong track record of being customer-focused and making things right.
I'm glad you contacted them with your concern so that they can address it.

I'm sorry this has happened, but a slight delay pales in comparison to the many years that the gorgeous diamond and ring will bring joy.

Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing more comments on the diamond's performance!

:wavey:

WF is arranging for fixes now (it also was not the right size, copy paste error).

I went through 4 diamonds and we are super happy with this one. Definitely a keeper and hopefully this fix will be the final one. All of the shipping back and forth almost makes you want to just go to a brick and mortar shop... almost. Here are some pictures!

Gorgeous diamond and ring. Glad to read that WF is fixing it promptly as we are all human and make mistakes once in a while.
Your ring will bring you many years of pleasure.

Its beautiful!

You picked a stunning diamond. :appl:

Beautiful! I can guarantee you that 95% of local brick and mortar jewelers' work wouldn't hold up to the 50x+ (?) magnification that you are using, either! But I agree it should be repolished and am glad WF is happy to do so! Very glad you love the diamond!
