@gm89uk my stone is an oval. The other stones I have seen with feather damage were RBs but most do get damaged before being marketed and most of the remainder during setting or unsetting but it does occur during wear rarely. It is also true, however, that any diamond, one without any feathers can also get damaged if hit at the right angle with enough force. A scary thought but we must take good care of them and set them in a way that protects them. Even four prongs are good. Bezel if really concerned about the stone in question and using a very very thin layer of 24 K gold or pure silver inside the bezel offers great protection.
