I wish I could work for Whiteflash or High Performance Diamonds or many of the other super wonderful US diamond companies. But I’m Canadian!

Got me wondering: are there a slew of super amazing Canadian companies that I’m just not aware of? If there are, I’m sure I’d like to buy from them and/or work for them! I just passed my graduate diamonds course :mrgreen2:!

Awww thank you!! I kind of dream of working for Tiffany & Co. simply because they’re such a big company with solid customer service and a long history..: but it makes me sad to think that I could be selling diamonds less sparkly than WF ACA or CBI Stones...

I guess it’s all relative :)

Birks? I have no idea what their diamond quality is, but they have a long history as a high end jewelry company across Canada.

Hearty CONGRATULATIONS! Your timing is great since I imagine that, e.g., Birks and Tiffany & Co. in Canada are now hiring sales assistants for the holidays, so you will be able to quickly gain some relevant experience, even if it's not what you envision for yourself long-range :))

P.S. I wouldn't be concerned just now about "selling diamonds less sparkly than WF ACA or CBI Stones." A new/seasonal Tiffany employee will not be assigned to assist customers with e-rings and the like; employees in those positions have the opportunity to earn higher commissions-rack up greater $$ in sales credits; so, unless your local Tiffany operates differently than the 2 NYC stores, those positions are awarded to more senior employees.

Ah yes, I forgot about Birks!

Thanks for the congrats! <3

Oh that’s such a good point! I’ll have to pace myself then :)

Do you have an Independent Jewelers where you live? If so that might be another option. They are another high end jewelry store here. They tend to stock Mikimoto, Rolex, and other luxury brands.

Aside from Birks and other retail stores, you could also consider getting into the diamond business. HRA Group seems to be the big Canadian operator that cuts, polishes and distributes Canadian diamonds.

That’s a cool idea, thanks! I hadn’t considered that!

Oh that’s a good idea. If I find the Rolex retailers, I’ll probably find the high end jewelry stores :)

Thanks!!

Speaking of a Canadian company producing ideal cut diamonds, there was Embee Diamond, found by Mike Botha, the guy who cut the Esperanza. It appears that the company is gone gone after a series of lawsuits and Mike now partners with an Indian company to promote Sirius Star.

Tough world even for a world class cutter
