Hi All :wavey:
I did a search on this and found a few threads with many different answers so I am curious, is it really just personal preference OR is there ONE best way to keep our stones clean and sparkly at home?. I really want to find the best routine for keeping my rings looking amazing on a daily basis. I have cleaner but, like others, they NEVER look like they do when i bring them to get cleaned at the jeweler.

1) what is the best way clean your wedding sets? and / or diamonds? Connosisseurs? Dawn in warm water? Rubbing alcohol? what exact steps do you follow?
2) how often can I do this cleaning? daily? weekly? every 3 days?
3) do you dry them with something or just place on papertowel?
3) should I purchase a ultrasonic cleaner? is that really the ONLY way to get them clean like the jeweler does?

Thanks for any advice you can share. I dont know if cleaning too much or with the wrong product can be counter productive?

anyone?

There is a long post on this a week or so back titled, "Keep diamonds Clean"

thank you for the link, this thread is actually one i was referring to.

There are many different answers in it as to how to clean your diamond. I dont know which one is best, or is it ALL just personal prefernce?

some say, rubbing alcohol as final rinse, others say steam cleaner, others say regular cleaner 3x week, others say dawn in warm water.

I don't think there are any scientific studies that prove which one is best. ;)) They are all going to work about the same.

I soak mine in Connoisseurs a few days a week, use a soft brush to clean the pavilion of the stone, rinse with very warm water. That is fine for daily cleaning. But you still need occasional ultrasonic or steam cleaning. A jeweler recently put my ring in their ultrasonic but apparently didn't bother to use a brush on the pavilion and the diamond came out with some frosty facets. So the soft brush is important. I mainly use Connoisseurs because I like the little basket you can submerge the rings in and bring them out! But I could always in the future use that jar and basket with water and Joy.

I've recently started using my Waterpik with hot water in it to clean where the diamond sits tight against the setting and it has helped a lot. Also really great for cleaning the little melee holes on the underside of the shank.

ultrasonic cleaner or just kitchen soap water jewelry rag.....I wear my studs 24-7 so they get yucky the clean up nice either way.

Dish soap in hot water with a soft brush, then dipped in rubbing alcohol and dried using a pressurized "cleaning duster" -- no water spots! :praise:
