Hi guys

we had an eternity ring made (diamond/ platinum). In the description it said 13 diamonds. But it turned out to be 14 diamonds when we recieved it. (Was due to an error on their site) But at the same carrot wait.

So I rang and told the manager. He said he was more than happy to exchange the ring and get a 13 diamond ring made for us. However he insisted that the ring will look exactly the same as the diamond setting will be the same due to the width of the diamonds across is going to be exactly the same. No change to that. So its pointless getting a 13 diamond ring.

And also if we decide to keep the 14 diamond ring and not get them exchanged for a new 13 diamond ring. he will offer me a free annual polishing and cleaning of the ring yearly.

What do you guys think? is polishing etc costly and worth keeping the existing ring for?

It makes no difference to me as I just thought bigger diamonds cost more than smaller diamonds even if it isnt by much. thats why i insisted on 13 diamonds.

WHAT WOULD you guys have done in my Position?

I'd take the annual polishing. I don't think the point size is going to increase visually, so it's not worth it to have it remade, IMO.

thanks for sharing your opinion. How much would it cost to get a ring polished on average privately?

It depends where you live. I live in very expensive norcal and 70-90 per ring for platinum is not out of line for a really good mirror finish polish job.

Wondering if you've looked into getting an ultrasonic cleaner. I cannot believe what a difference it makes in the sparkle of my channel set bands. I think mine only cost $50 and it's been so so worth it!

You're not going to see any size difference.

The "free" annual polishing and cleaning should be FREE anyway, so that's not much of a deal. He should be offering you a small refund, or something to that effect. Whether or not you see the difference, you didn't get what you ordered and his "deal" is really a "take what we did which was incorrect, and we'll give you nothing in return, because you're gonna waste our money on our end, and that's a pain in our butt, and we're gonna make it sound like a deal to you, even though you lose."
