Which do you like more for a large yellow stone? Why?

It depends on the centre stone.
Both pics have good combinations IMHO.
If I were to have a yellow CS, it would be an Asscher cut by JW so that I could have a nice windmill.
Flanked by step cut trillions or traps.
It is unlikely to happen as yellow (and orange) do not agree with my skin tone. Therefore, not in a hurry to complete my rainbow.

Both are beautiful. Half moons for me. seems more unique and looks like a ring that has history, as if it were from the 1920's. Love it.

I think it would depend on how large your sapphire is after being re-cut.

No moissy for me

Should still be 12.7*11.7 as he’s only recutting the lower portion - I don’t think proportionally baguettes will do. They’ll be too small compared to the stone- or they will be to large to fit right on my finger.

Yes they do have different kids of half moons I could get step cut ones

@Niel I love, love the cushion side stones and that original ring by LM was an inspiration of mine some time ago. I think that half moons might not be able to provide enough bling factor with the center sapphire, while the cushions will. Also, the coverage will be amazing!

Oh, I voted half moons because I love that look but you won't get the sparkle that you would with cushions. It will be a lovely ring I'm sure!

Step cut half moons would also be lovely, but I think would be a more subtle look, and something tells me subtle is not the order of the day.

I voted cushions. I like symmetry & 3 cushions look great & very unique. I’m not sure now about the size of the cushions after I saw that mammoth of a stone. Lol. Will you set it like picture 2?
It will be pretty & big as you wish it to be. Lol.
