Eternity wedding band question

Hi all,

Time to buy the wedding ring and have a few questions.

I like the Tiffany Embrace full eternity setting (for reference only) where you can see the round edge of each individual diamond (shared prong?) or a floating setting (thanks to previous PS suggestions)

https://www.tiffany.ca/jewelry/rings/tiffany-embrace-band-ring-GRP00099/

My ER is 1.5ct H color VS1 round solitaire sz 4ish and I'm thinking of getting 1.25 or 1.5 or max 1.7ctw eternity band to go with it.

My questions:

- Is there a difference between H colored and F/G colored melee on an eternity band?
- Is there a difference between VS1-VS2 clarity vs SI1?
In other words is it worth it to pay more for higher grade color/clarity? Or cut?
- I've tried on 5pts and feel they are too small but 9-10 pts seems to be overpowering and I can't really find rings with about 8pts. Do you think 9 or 10pts are too big for a 1.5ct center stone?

Suggestions and links welcome!

Thanks!

holy moly that Tiffany price :eek-2:

I'd consider buying from somewhere like Whiteflash where you can get top-notch diamond cuts for half the price of the Tiffany band:

I wear a size 4.5 and my eternity is approx 2 cttw but it's single prong so I think they're a bit over 10 pts each (3.3mm wide). (It is this one from Blue Nile, which I bought just because it was secondhand at a good price. If buying new, I'd go with Whiteflash, Brian Gavin Diamonds, or High Performance Diamonds - basically anywhere that can put ideal-cut melee in the band.) I think it's a good size for daily wear. I have only colored stone engagement rings, no diamonds, and none are plain solitaires, so I can't answer if it goes well with that... but I love it with any of my rings or alone.

Here it is pictured with a size reference of 6.7mm solitaire (moissanite just for size ref). and I don't think it's overpowering at all:

Yes I love that Bluenile model but the smaller one 1.5ctw. I am comparing it with the James Allen one
and I'm wondering if it's worth the price difference?

I live in Canada so not sure if WF, BGD or HPD ship duty-included that's why I haven't looked too much into them.

Ummmm... whoa. $13600 even in CAD. UGH. I think you could travel to Texas and buy from WF and it would be cheaper. I’m so sorry. Yes. Either HPD or WF.

oh ok, yeah idk what duty is to Canada.

I haven't seen the JA one in person but the BN one is very sparkly, and looks fine with my SIL's ideal cut RB. $1.5k more for the JA one of the same carat weight? idk about that since they're not guaranteed ideal cuts. I prefer the BN setting - if you look at the JA one, the diamond girdles stick out a lot more so they could cut into your solitaire more aggressively. BN has a little bit of a basket on the side so the girdles don't stick out as far (maybe at all? I've been looking at mine with a loupe and can't tell), which limits how much it could cut into a ring right next to it. I think it's a smarter and more practical design.

Thanks for the info. Appreciated!

Fellow Canadian here living in BC. We purchased from Brian Gavin online. There is no additional duty to pay and this is pursuant to NAFTA but you have to pay your provincial tax. If you get your ring delivered to Alberta the tax on the purchase price is and additional 5%. If you get it delivered to BC like we did it is 12% :(2 hope that helps!

Thanks. Don't feel bad, I'm in Quebec so it'll be 15% for us!

I was in IDJ recently for a possible 5 stone .15pts band purchse and PS quality would be F-SI1 Ideal. Their SI clarity are definitely eye clean. Try reaching out to them!
