I am currently exploring Jeweler's Mutual and Lavalier, but I am open to any recommendations or strategies that PSers may have surrounding this topic.

Questions to start the conversation:
  • What deductible to most recommend ($0 vs $500 vs $1000)
  • I know JM will allow you specify the jeweler (important to me since its a signature AVO)

I am prob going with JM since GemSafe is not writing policies in Virginia until at least January. My local jeweler who sold me both the diamond and made the ring was the appraiser and one listed as preferred jeweler on my policy.

The quoted price differences for mine between the $250 and $500 deductibles were very small, so might as well jump for the $250 if possible.

Am concerned with insuring since I'd prefer a payout rather than an "equitable" one based solely on carat size/color/clarity. After reading posts on PS, went for a much more expensive diamond that had a much better cut than any local store could offer, and searched for specific pavilion angle, crown angle, depth percentage, and table size.

Obviously hope it's never needed, but if it is, don't want the hassle of someone else picking out a diamond from a "lost and found" box of leftovers.
