I took my girlfriend ring shopping this weekend and she immediately fell in love with the Helzberg Diamond Masterpiece 1 CT TW Degas Diamond Engagement ring set in 18K white gold. It looks amazing on her hand, but at $4500, I thought it was a little bit overpriced for what it was. I feel that I can get a better deal online, but do not no where to start looking. Do you know where I can find similar settings or can you post the link for me?

Here is a link to the ring. For some reason, I can't load pictures on here.

I appreciate your help. I plan on proposing at Christmas time and want to get everything in order in the next week or two.

How much do you want to spend? and what do you want to get for your money?

Thank you for the suggestions so far. My budget is about $5K. I think I can get a much better quality diamond than the one at Helzberg for the same price (the diamond was rated color I and SI2).

My girlfriend likes the 3 stone ring. She has petite fingers, so she wanted the center stone to be somewhere between 1/3 and 3/4 carat.

i would put this stone
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.60-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-229137
in this setting

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/three-stone/platinum-three-stone-round-and-pave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-item-2429

(maybe add millgraining to the sides)

the proportion would be great with .33 cts/ .60 ct/.33 cts and the center and side stones would match.

the cut on that stone is nice, and as long as its eye clean without any dangerous inclusions it would be great.

you could even do it in platinum for that price

The original link you sent was a set--do you want the wedding ring included within your $5,000 or is the $5,000 budget for engagement ring only (stone(s) and setting)?

I am looking to spend $5K for the engagement ring. The wedding won't be for another year so I have some time to save up for the wedding band :)

Fact is that setting is a basic style in any jeweler's repertoire and the biggest limitation you have is if you can get it by Christmas. I'd send out emails today to Whiteflash, IdJewelry, and Engagement Rings Direct and ask if they can meet your deadline and for quotes.

SPOT ON NIEL I LOVE BOTH THE STONE AND WITH THAT SETTING

Agreed. I'm nowhere near an expert on diamonds, but I have a G SI1 eye clean stone and I LOVE it!

If she likes 3 stone, I also would suggest this! It'll be beautiful!!

In interested I would contact he seller for more specs... It may end higher than 5k, though, and I don't know your girlfriend's thoughts on preloved

Good idea.

There's also this. Do we know who's this is??

That leaves 2 k just for the setting which I bet engagement rings direct could do and do well.

No clue who the seller is, I randomly lurke and it was eerily minutes after I read this that I ran into the ring. I think it may go over budget, and I don't know how brave I would be getting this my first round with diamonds. But... It was worth passing on.
