Hey everyone I'm new to the forum as of today and am in need of help deciding between 3 different diamonds. My preference is to buy from a website that allows me to see an image of the diamond rather than not. For this purpose I have chosen jamesallen.com
My budget for the diamond is between $2000-$2400 and no more as I've already increased my budget slightly. Carat weight between 0.63 and 0.75
Also I'm planning on ordering the ring/diamond today so help asap would be greatly appreciated :)

Below are 4 links, the first one being the setting I plan on buying and the other 3 links are the diamonds I've narrowed it down to.
The first two diamonds are 2< on the HCA scale and the third scored a 2.1

All stones seem like good deals and I like that the last one has a substantially larger LxW measurement, but I am concerned that the feather on the table will be too noticeable.

i can't comment on the stones, not enough experience here :) Can i ask about the setting tho, are you the wearer or are you buying for someone else? That is a considerably sized ring. Very thick band which is not everyone's slice of pie. Unless the wearer specifically picked it out, i'd go with something safer. Not loving how the stone is sitting in the halo, looks like it's just plopped in bc of the airline. Would you be open to other suggestions?

My girlfriend has a ring that she loves and is very similar to the one I've picked out. I'm open to suggestions but they would have to be a split shank halo setting that goes with a round stone, or possibly a twisted shank.

As far as the stones are concerned, 1 and 2 are nice. 1 is a 60/60 style stone and will favor more bright white light. 2 will have more colored light return. No on stone 3 - CA is too low.

Can JA get you an IS on either of the two?

I'm also not the biggest fan of that setting to be honest..what is your budget for the setting and the entire ring?

No go on the IS images because these diamonds are not at there New York office.

Budget is $4000 max including tax, I would like to stay closer to $3600 if possible as my original budget was $3000.

Do you think the different L*W measurements will be noticeable between diamond 1 and 2?

oh, good! A man that notices what his lady likes, we like to hear that! Has she expressed that she would like an e-ring so similar to her current ring? There are some nice options at JA if you go with a straight shank.

I was thinking of this twisted shank halo tho, well within budget.

I agree with Farrahlyn on the setting she chose - that one looks nicer to me

The mm difference between 1 and 2 is very small, but I wouldn't pay for VVS2 and would prefer the size and cut of that eye-clean SI1 in a heartbeat! Since you're putting it in a halo, the size difference will be negligible.

Not sure if you know, but you could also get a $100 referral code discount if you use two emails!

Yes I've got the $100 off code waiting to be used sitting in my email, so that helps a little.

And while that setting is nice I still think she would prefer something with a more noticeable split. Thank you for finding those other options, I do appreciate it.

And thanks for the push, I will probably go with stone 2.

Ok, if you go with your original setting choice, at least ask them to set the diamond flush so there's no airline (if it's even possible). It also wouldn't hurt to ask if they could give you delicate claw prongs. It's always best to look at the pictures of the rings already completed - they have one with a .70 H VS1.

If I may ask, why do you have to order today? I really think IDJ could help you find a nicer setting and can also search for a beautiful center stone for you in your budget. I helped my friend get an engagement ring together in just a couple of days from Yekutiel. He may be able to get the exact stone #2 if it's in NY. I urge you to at least explore the option. They carry Gabriel & Co. and Stuller who have lots of setting options. For example:

Thank you very much for that info, I had not heard of idj till you mentioned them. It looks like their diamond prices are substantially cheaper than james allen. Wherever I buy the ring from I will need it by August 13th at the absolute latest to work with my planned proposal the following day.

Just when you think you had it all figured out some more knowledgeable person comes along and shows you something better.
Time to browse their website quickly, I only wish my girlfriend worked tonight so I would have more time.

It's best to call Yekutiel on the phone regarding diamond and setting. Give him your budget, parameters and he can assist you. I promise, you're in good hands with him. He's honest, reliable and will educate you along the way. Good luck and check back with us when you find what you're looking for. :wavey:

unfortunately that happens a lot on here.

Definitely give IDJ a call! If youre in a time crunch, i think that's the place to go for one stop shopping, he can find you a really nice stone in your budget, so many here have posted beautiful rings from him. i love the Stuller settings Queenie posted and the Gabriel infinity shank is really pretty too.

I like this Stuller infinity shank too and it has a matching band. (I like the gallery on this one, probably bc it's very similar to mine. lol!)

So I think I found the diamond I want to go with but I don't have enough understanding to read the images. Here are the IS, and ideal scope images that the jeweler provided me with as well as the gia report. What do you guys think? Also I've decided to go with the Gabriel and co setting I posted above.
