Engagement and Marriage Presents

For my engagement to my ex, I received a family diamond set in a Tiffany-style engagement ring and I gave him a (smaller) family diamond set in a tie tack. Wish I had the family stone back.....No other gifts. At the time, I thought we were giving ourselves to each other!

I got my husband a small silver coin featuring a satyr (he has a tattoo of Pan on his shoulder, it seemed fitting). 2nd century BCE, I think, and the sheer age of it seemed like a nice idea on which to start a marriage. It came with the standing offer to be set it in a tie tack or small decorative frame or whatnot. I think he liked the idea, but never took me up on the offer ... it sits in a little box in his nightstand, along with other "nice" things.

He got me a little fairy bride doll, which was a nice idea (I study fairy tales & was getting married, so ... :)) but ... I'm a blonde. Dolly was a brunette, and looked a good deal more like a mutual friend of ours.* I was a wee bit taken aback, but he painted the hair gold when we got home (used to paint miniatures), so it did turn out to be nicely symbolic in the end. Just wish he'd had the idea of a touch-up before he wrapped her ....

*what makes this even funnier is that for Christmas, he'd given me a different fairy doll, which resembled a different friend (unintentional - in that case, he knew I'd wanted one forever (Froud's Bad Fairy), and the resemblance wasn't nearly as pronounced in the pics). For a while, it seemed like the World's Oddest Category of Themed Gifts ....

I gave my dh engraved gold cufflinks -not sure if it was from Tiffany's or somewhere else but I remember it was from a well known and respected store at the time. My dh got me a beautiful necklace from Sak's for me but not to my taste so after the honeymoon we went back and exchanged it LOL.

PS had nothing to do with my pickiness regarding jewelry. How many people exchanged the wedding gift their dh/FI got them. I remember my family was mortified that I told my dh (FI) that it wasn't to my taste. Works for us. :cheeky:

JD got to marry me.

What more could the guy want right?

We didnt exchange wedding gifts and he didn't get an
Engagement gift. We're not big on exchanging gifts though.

This. Although, we do give each other pretty awesome birthday and anniversary gifts. ;)

I gave him a Spiderman painting and he gave me a Tiffany key pendant and he had commissioned an artist to sketch my wedding dress. Obviously I didn't get that done until after the wedding. They are really awesome gifts, and while I haven't worn the key in a while (I need a new chain) I look at the dress every day, as it's on the wall outside our bedroom.

My husband and I love to scuba dive.

On our wedding day, he gave me a Dive Alert (underwater signaling device) and told me it was so we would never get separated. I bawled like a baby.

HI:

Custom made 24K yellow gold chain. He wore it for many years, and when he no longer did....I traded it in for something else! :cheeky:

cheers--Sharon
