congratulations!!! beautiful ring!

hey all :) just wanted to say thanks to the new compliments!! I really appreciate it. I''ve had my ring for a couple weeks and I really love it. I think I''ve decided to live with the tiny inclusions, as 95 percent of the time I don''t notice them. It has to be in really good lighting and i have to be actually looking at my stone. I got such a good deal on it and it has so much sparkle and life, I really have become quite attached!

I did however (this is just for you Setell) notice that my setting has some inconsistencies that need to be fixed. One side has tiny little indents (they almost look like milgrain lines) in between the tiny pave prongs, that separate each side stone. It looks like on the other side they forgot to make those same little indents, so one side looks slightly wider. It''s very subtle, but once I noticed it, I knew it needed to be fixed. I haven''t sent it back yet, as I was still trying to decide on another stone. It scares me having to send it in the mail, especially when I have not insured it yet. I plan on insuring it once I get it back.

aww, what a great proposal! Not to mention the ring...

Great pics, I love that you included pics of all the food, and of you and your FI and pug. Congrats on your engagement! I don''t see the inclusions at all if it makes you happy.

Glad that you’re happy with the diamond. It is a beauty and as long as you’re happy that’s the main thing (inclusions and all)

I’m weary of hand casting settings now after my JA experience. I ordered a Gabriel & Co setting from ID Jewellery at a steal price (they are soo much cheaper then Jon’s prices)! I got high hopes for this setting and they’ve agreed to send me pics before it’s shipped (am paranoid). I hope you get JA to fix the imperfections with your setting so you can enjoy the lovely ring! I am getting excited that I might be getting close to finding my setting and having a finished product! As for insurance while during shipping, not really sure how home insurance works in the US but for me in Canada my tenant policy covered it as it was below their item limit (didn’t need to get a rider for the diamond/setting, one benefit of having a cheaper ring

). So I was safe regardless if I bought extra coverage or not through the shipping company when shipping the setting back to JA.

Gorgeous! Congrats! what a beautiful couple!

Love the ring! And love the pugs!

OK-SO...I changed my mind again. I decided to go ahead and buy the second time and have it shipped loose. I should get it by Monday. I was really scared of spending $4,100 on a diamond that I know I''m probably going return. What if it gets lost in the mail!! I talked to Mr James Allen himself and he was very nice and reassuring that when I sent back the stone and my ring (to get fixed, and possibly also being reset, I could put them in one fedex package, and they would pay the shipping.

It''s going to be hard to be without my ring now! I know I need to get it sent back though regardless to fix the setting.

Setell! I''m interested in how much you were able to get it for? Did you go for the Novo looking one, Gabriel ring (ER-4181)? I inquired about the cost for that from GOG and it was around $1500. I originally really liked that one but knew that it was above my budget for just the setting. I will be able to get both from JA for only $1,600.00 Once the setting is fixed, it will be perfect. I''m super happy with the setting. It is really beautiful. I''m glad you found something that was affordable and willing to work with you so well. I can''t wait to see your finished ring!!

Thank you all for your wonderful compliments! The inclusions, for some reason don''t show up at all in the photos. It''s weird.

kiett98, I love your pug! So cute!!

Yup! I ordered the ER-4181 as I saw some pics posted on PS and looked at the Gabriel site and I was sold with how amazing it looked. It also helps that the Novo is gorgeous too!!! I paid a whooping $695USD for the platinum version hehehe!!!!!!! What a deal!!!!!!! I’m not getting the matching band as I want a more traditional matching Asian band instead. But I am still giddy over what a great deal I got on the Gabriel setting since GOG wanted almost double that price!!! http://www.idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?products_id=4061&cType=

I wouldn’t worry too much with FedEx or any other carrier losing your package as I’m sure JA bought sufficient insurance to cover lost packages. Just sit back, wait for the diamond to show up and then admire it’s beauty!!!!

Your ring is gorgeous! I don''t know how I missed it before!

Congrats! Also, I love the cut.

thank you all! I received the second diamond in the mail today. i''m not sure what i want to do yet. i like them each for different reasons. they are both the same cut and carat weight, but look a lot different. i think my first diamond has an overall, chunkier look, but i think the second one has more symmetrical look, with a rounder and larger culet. i have a couple days to make my decision. i will try to take some decent pictures and post them. i was able to take some better close up shots of my current diamond ring; ones where the inclusion on the very top part of my diamond can be seen. i will attach a few of my current ring, then some of the new diamond. opinions appreciated!!!

I really don''t know which one i will choose.

finally, a photo that shows the main visible inclusion. it was easier to see it before i resized the photo.

you can actually see the inclusion in both of those photos. here''s a photo of the new diamond beside my current ring.

the new diamond is a 1.04 H, VS1. it has a smaller table and a large culet. the l/w ratio is 1.12 and is 6.57 by 5.85. it is also from james allen.

Hi Aida1010! I have to say I am partial to your ring because it reminds me so much of my own! :) Your ring is just GORGEOUS!

I have a 2.39 F SI2 cushion brilliant that I got from my wonderful FI on Christmas Day this last December and I am in love with it. It has a few very small inclusions that I can see in my own little world sometimes when the light hits it just right. But let me tell you..if you love your stone for so many other reasons, don''t worry about the inclusions. Most people see my ring and immediately want to know what cut it is because of the e/w setting and they ooh and ahh over that...they never have a chance to notice anything else!
If you love the new stone then you should absolutely keep it....but I LOVE your ring and think that (from experience) you will be happy with the things you love about it and the inclusions will slowly start to disappear...
Best wishes on a wonderful engagement and happy marriage! Wedding planning is a blast!

Here is a pic of my ring:

Sorry! That was enormous! Let''s try with a different one...

Well - I seem to have forgotten how to make these smaller...anyway - you get the idea :)
Best of luck!!

hi lori :) thank you for your pictures of your beautiful ring!! It''s funny, because, before I purchased my ring, I tried to find every picture of a cushion ring on this site. I really looked at about everything I could. I have seen the threads of your ring in the past, and after I got mine, I immediately thought of yours. I remember you had a picture of your ring sitting on Christmas ornaments. I couldn''t remember your screen name to find your threads, but I remembered your stone because it does look very similar to mine! I really like the E/W a lot too. Plus, I think mine looks larger than 1.04 because of it''s rectangularness!!

I appreciate your words of encouragement regarding my ring. While I really love how the new one''s culet and large facets in the center look, it has a more of a brilliant cut look around that. The current one is more chunky all around. It''s going to be a tough decision, but it''s nice to know that someone else has a stone with tiny inclusions, and it doesn''t bother them. The more I had my diamond, the less it bothered me too, but I wanted to make sure that I ordered the other diamond, just in case. I have til Wednesday to fedex them back.

I can understand why you are torn and hesitant to make a decision....
Hmmm... Please don't take this the wrong way, but you were concerned with the inclusion... you see it and you know its there for your eyes to see and will always be there. Unfortunately, the inclusion is right smack in the middle of the stone where the culet is, and that would bother me actually. I am no diamond expert, but I didn't think you could see any inclusions with an unaided eye in a VS2 clarity... I do however like the other stone too, they are very different from each other, it's very pretty. Examine them both in the next day in different lighting and situation...But, I am very picky when it comes to clarity. I will pay more to know i will never see an inclusion in my ring. I know its hard to make a decision. Is the other stone a lot more more than the original one? I hope you can make the decision that is right for you and pleases your eyes :)

Thanks for remembering my Christmas pictures, Aida! I know you will love your ring no matter which decision you make! Congrats!

The new stone is $400. more. it''s one less in color, but one higher in clarity. You usually can''t see inclusions in a vs2, which is why i thought i would be safe with the first stone. it was only $3,600. and was a pretty good deal imo. I told the customer rep that i was dealing with that i did not want to see any inclusions with my naked eye. the gemologist said it was eye clean. i guess it''s considered eye clean, but i didn''t want to be able to see anything period. it''s hard to tell what the new stone would look like set. the temporary setting covers up the corners and makes it difficult to imagine set. I don''t want it to look smaller than what i have, even though the dimensions are slightly smaller. both are the exact carat weight. i think they both have the same amount of sparkle. the new one definitely looks more square, but if i chose it, i would still have it sent E/W.
