The east to west setting is fab!

congrats

Congratulations on your engagement. Your ring is very pretty but if those inclusions are really bothering you? I''d choose another stone now (rather than later) because any visible inclusion will bother you every time you look down at your hand.

Congratulations on your engagment! (thanks, now I''m starving with all those food pics!)

I love your ring and the E/W set of the stone...just beautiful! Again, congrats!!!

I also drooled at the food... ;)

I love the way you have your cushion set EW style. And it''s soo pretty with the chunky facets! Now, as for your concerns about clarity, do you think you''ll be able to look at your ring and ignore the inclusions? Or just think of them as tiny little birthmarks so no matter what happens, you''ll always be able to distinguish your diamond from anyone elses. For some people, being able to see the inclusions a little bit (you could also potentially have eagle eyes) doesn''t really bother them and since you''ll be the only one who sees them. For others, (I fall in this category) it would drive them nuts to be able to see the tiniest pinprick of inclusions. Maybe the person you contacted to view the diamond to make sure there were no inclusions, didn''t have eagle eyes and honestly couldn''t see them. Technically with a VS2 you need a 10x magnification loupe to be able to see the inclusions. My friend has a VS2 and you could only see her inclusions with a loupe. If you think you could look at your diamond every day for the rest of your life and the inclusions, don''t bother you...then go ahead and keep it. If it could potential drive you bonkers, then I''d say go and replace it (after talking to your fiancee and telling him your concerns since you were the one who picked out the diamond and everything) and explain that you should have seen the diamond before it was set, but you didn''t and you realize that to your eyes the inclusions were visible, and you may want to replace it with a diamond that you personally can''t see the inclusions in. You may or may not want to tell him that there''s a price difference, but if it was me, I probably wouldn''t tell him and I''d pay the $500 myself because I wouldn''t want my FI to spend anymore money even though I know he would willingly. Hopefully this helps, but this is all my honest opinion. Good luck and keep us posted!

thank you so much everyone for your kind comments!

I had my heart set on a cushion from day one. Since we had a modest budget, and I had a lot of things I wanted out of my diamond, it made it a pretty narrow search. I knew I wanted one with a culet and chunky facets. It was really tough to find a diamond that fit within all of my parameters. Like I said before, the only thing that disappoints me is the tiny inclusions, but I really love the stone, and doubt I''ll be able to find another one for the price. It''s a G color, and is super white. I really like that about it.

I originally was dead set on a squarish cushion. However, I also wanted to try to get a diamond with a good spread, so I after seeing other cushions set East/West, I broadened my l/w range. I was afraid that with it only being around 1 C, it would look funny set East/West, as all the diamonds that I''ve seen set that way on here were much larger than mine. I think it looks really unique set this way, and I think it makes it look even bigger set sideways.

I think it''s a cool stone and setting. I am partial to rectangular cushions.

I don''t see the inclusions in your photos. Have you taken the stone to a jeweler and had it cleaned? Then see if you can spot the inclusions. If you have a GIA cert do the inclusions match the plot?

Only you will know if you can live with what you see. Good Luck!

What a lovely couple and lovely ring! congrats to you! And that east/west setting is truly a show stopper!

stone hunter: I have not taken it to a jeweler, The stone was super clean and shiny when I got it. The inclusions match up with the gia cert, they are just really easy for me to see. in some lighting it''s hard, but in other lighting it''s incredibly easy to see. especially the one that''s close to the top. I guess my diamond would be considered "eye clean," but the inclusions are visible without a loup, if you look at it up close. No one else has been able to really see them but me. I am thinking about purchasing a similar diamond that has very similar specs but is $400 more and has h color, vs1 clarity. I am not sure. I just really hate that I can see the black specks.

Congrats! You make a gorgeous couple and your ring looks stunning especially the profile view. The setting you picked really shows off the diamonds from the sides. Oh and the food looks yummy too!

What a beautiful ring and couple! I don''t see any inclusions at all from your photo, and the setting is really pretty. Congratulations on your engagement!

I really love your ring! It''s beautiful and you two make a adorable couple. Congrats and many best wishes for a wonderful life together.

If the inclusions can be seen by you and it bothers you, I would definitely spend the 400. and get the higher clarity stone. This is something you will wear
every day and in the long run you will be glad you spent the money. A year from now, the 400 probably wont matter all that much. I had a ring that I could
see a black inclusion and it always bugged me. If the other stone is close and will fit in your setting, I would go for it.

Your pics and story is so sweet. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Congrats on the engagement and love the dainty look of the ring! Your chunky cushion is gorgeous in the E/W look! Glad things worked out pretty good in the end!!! I’m not sure how picky you are or how bad these inclusions bother you but I would get the VS1 and pay the $500 while you still can. I probably have eagle eyes though :D

Beautiful ring!!! Love the paw pic...sooooo cute!!!

Congratulations!! Awesome pictures and a very beautiful ring!!
