Hello, Long post, apologies in advance.

I did read numerous threads on emeralds here and have perused the online sites. I will not be able to travel to NYC, etc to view stones so will let yall pick via ASET, etc. I understand carat weight is less important with an emerald.

1. What are your thoughts on purchasing diamond separately (eg. b2c, GOG) vs diamond and ring from online superstore (JA, whiteflash) considering my/our mobile work situation?

2. Adiamor and B2C seem to have the best prices, but it seems based on my reading, even with an ASET (and your help) a place like GOG might be better to judge a good stone?

3. Brian Gavin Diamonds has 'ideal' cuts, but how well will it work in my price range? Right now, they have a 2+ ct for 30kish and some smaller diamonds. Perhaps I'm being superficial, but how would a BGD ideal compare at my price range with a good non-BGD?

4. I am using b2c to best understand an ASET because they have images right on the site, but from my reading GOG and others specialize in selecting these stones. I have attached 3 from b2c for my education. First 2 I think are good ASET and last is not good.

Could you suggest any quick picks (as not to waste yall's time just yet) for my education that are good options in that price range?

5. I presume Jeweler's mutual is a good option for insurance and to expect about $100/1ct/year depending on options? Do I get insurance the day I receive the diamond and decide to keep? Do they just need the GIA/AGS cert?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I think you need to pick one place, so the good news is that any of those places will be able to service you— be your jeweler of choice over many years.

Some, more personal service than others. Some better upgrade policies as well.

It comes down to what you want and to me you sound like you want a personal experience where the staff come to know you and your changing needs.

This would mean that I would steer you to places like (not considering budget): Victor Canera, Brian Gavin, Whiteflash, August Vintage.

I have an emerald cut 1.2 carats and an asscher, 1.52 carats and they are so disappointing face up. So I would say with an emerald cut, you should weigh size heavily, which means you might need to be flexible on clarity and color.

I would say, pick one vendor and explore their website and see how they can help you. And if they don’t work out, then go to the next person etc.

I would think you need to work 1:1 with someone.

Let me know if I misunderstood.

Oh, and from my avatar you can see that I prefer pave split shank with emeralds and asschers. (The 7 stone aqua emerald was me doing something different lol)

Also, JA and WF aren't in the same category of service. WF provides outstanding 1:1 services and has stones in house. JA does neither of those things.

I agree with others that WF, BGD, VC, August vintage are good places to look and get great service and suggestions.

Thanks for the responses. I am in the early stages so I will likely research jewelers and talk to them directly. I will reach back out to the folks here when I've narrowed a bit and let you guys help me do the final stone selections.
