Would you buy a diamond certified by EGL if the diamond has been inspected by GOG?

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11097/

It has pictures and light performance reports. Only thing would be is it a true J or is it worse.

If the guys at GOG believes it is a true SI1 and J would you purchase this diamond? Is it worth it to send it to GIA?

GOG has a colorimeter, but they'll let you know their opinion if you ask.

It is quite common for genuine Antique diamonds to come with EGL USA reports rather than GIA ones.

If you had an antique diamondwhy wouldnt you send it to GIA. Do they grade antique stones worse?

Im curious because to submit it to gia is a few hundred dollars but the increase in value would be in the thousands if the report verified.

Ither than clarity the diamond iswhat i am looking for

I send my antique stones to both egl and GIA. I like comparing the results and I feel the GIA report will give the real color. EGL does a better job classifying the shape and cut of old diamonds. It also appears to be the norm for antique and estate sellers.

Yes, most antique stones are sent to EGL as they do classify the cut more accurately. It is unlikely that GIA would grade the stone J SI1, but Good Old Gold can estimate the color pretty accurately. I wouldn't bother to send to GIA just to gauge color since I think GOG will give you honest information. Many, many people here have antique stones in the K-M range and lower. So I wouldn't be too afraid of the color being lower than J.

Ok. Never considered the fact that it could be an antique diamond. I just assumed it was a newly cut diamond. That makes sense now. I emailed them so we'll see what they say. Thanks for the information.
