Hey all,

I wont bore you with my Enchanted story (post #21 on 'Warning' thread) but I did want to reach out to this community for some guidance as I tread lightly back into my search for another diamond. What I find I'm struggling with most, is that I cant help but compare every diamond I find to the stone I fell in love with-- the stone I thought I purchased ( GIA 6321794798 ). I've become so jaded by this whole predicament that the search has worn me out. What's more, is that now I feel like I can't be happy with a diamond of lesser quality. Ultimately, I think this situation will weigh on me longer if I'm forced to settle for less than I imagined for my girlfriend's ring.

This brings me around to my point of my post-

I'm on the hunt for a cushion cut GIA diamond preferably 1.7ish ct +
I'll be setting the stone in rose gold, and OK to go as low as 'I' in color.
I loved that my previous stone was in the "VS" range but would accept an eye-clean SI1.
I really gravitated towards "Excellent/ideal" cut to go along with EX symmetry/EX polish.
Table over 60%, Depth under 70% required
Lastly, not a fan of the "crushed ice" look, Love the "stars/stripes".

The $8,550 price tag on the one I found with ED fit my budget well, but I know I may have to wiggle a little to be able to get everything I'm looking for again. That being said though, I've already been scammed out of $10,300 so every dollar matters to me at this point.

If any vendor on here happens to read this and believes they have something, please reply. If anyone enjoys the diamond search (I did before) and has a free second to poke around, I'd be forever grateful. I wish I didn't have to hop right back into this, but I'm planning on proposing to my GF on our trip 7/15.

Here's the Enchanted Diamonds stone I purchased and am now trying to replace (It has since been sold, unfortunately):
1.8ct-I-VS2-8,550.png

Thanks so much for taking the time to read, search, or even just offer thoughts/opinions or suggestions.

Casey,
I’m glad you are here, looking and asking for help. I found so much guidance here and found a great vendor here too. I believe you are in good hands. Looking forward to this thread. A bigger, better cushion?! Let’s see what this warm community comes up with.

I'm so sorry @CaseyC. I'll take a look on Bluenile for you...just give me some time.

Check BN and JA...didnt find anything.

B2C
https://www.b2cjewels.com/diamond-search/dd/9579834/Cushion-Diamond-I-Color-VS2-Clarity slightly smaller but still a nice stone.
Same stone at adiamor but cost a little more
https://www.adiamor.com/Diamonds/1.80-ct-I-VS2-Very-Good-Cut-Cushion-Diamond/D43157220
same stone at BN but more $
https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...DiamondDetails&action=newTab&catalogView=true

No video with this so you would need to request. It is smaller in carat weight but bigger in LxW dimension.
Without a video I cant really comment too much on the light return.
https://www.b2cjewels.com/diamond-search/dd/11591479/Cushion-Diamond-I-Color-VS2-Clarity

Checked DBL but didnt see anything in stock that would work.

Thats all I'm finding. ED had good prices (I guess a little too good) so its hard to find the same size/specs
in the same budget.

Casey,
If I understand correctly, vendors here will have the icon “trade” beside their name like @Rockdiamond does. I don’t think those in the trade can sell you a diamond directly. Others in the forum who know a lot about diamonds can help guide you to a great stone and a preferred vendor.

You can click on resources up st the top of page, then click diamond search to look for a cushion that fits your parameters. You can post it here (or any diamond you find for sale) to see what others think. I’m going to tag a few PS’ers who helped me find my beautiful stone.

Thanks @tyty333 , that second one piques my interest. I'll try and request a video!

@MK Malone , appreciate the info and your helpfulness. Plus, every time I see your pup, it makes me smile. In fact, you inspired me to update my avatar, too.

Ditto on the smile/ puppy comment:)
I don’t think those in the trade can sell you a diamond directly.

MK- trade members are not allowed to directly solicit sales on the forum- but trade members certainly can offer diamonds to any member that reaches out to them directly!

I'm really sorry that happened. I poked around on James Allen. With the price for old stone as the high, the carat weight is smaller. They also don't show the full details on the stones either now.

These are smaller, but maybe:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.52-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-7010470

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.52-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-sku-7053511

I don't really love the larger stones they have in your budget though. I prefer the second over the first in the video. I think the first may be at a bad angle though.

Have you looked at antique style cushion stones?

This is a k, but in budget. It probably faces up brighter than you would expect.

Ajay on Rare Carat said this in an update today,

“We have retailers on the search engine who have kindly stepped up to provide diamonds and settings at cost to affected customers.”

It might be worth finding out which retailers those are and see if they would be someone you might want to work with.

Contact the staff at IDJ (yes they are a legitimate business with a bricks and mortar store you can go and visit) explain what happened with ED, tell them Pricescope people sent you (you will get 5 star service) and tell them in detail what you are after. They have worked wonders at finding great stones for people on a budget.

The other thing is, you might have to spend a bit more to get a similar stone, the issue with ED is they were vastly over promising what they could do price wise (I believe to suck in customers) and vastly under delivering. IDJ actually have stones in stock and can also call stones in (that is common in the diamond Industry) they have access to a vast inventory, and have been recommended by people on here for years, the staff there all know Pricescope and many of it's users. And after what has happened to you, I believe they will go out of their way to help you;

I second this suggestion. My nephew purchased a beautiful stone from IDJ a few days ago and I sent another to Yekutiel 2 years ago and he too was very happy. Yekutiel and his father Israel have the gift of finding nice stones within your budget. I wish you well.

Another vendor that is reputable and recommend on this site is Martin @ USA Certed Diamonds. He also has a gift for finding excellent stones on a certain budget.

@CaseyC
I know this vendor is very well thought of and has a very wonderful upgrade policy. If you don’t care for this stone, you could look on the WF website.
Just an FYI this stone is not eligible for Whiteflash's upgrade policy as it is virtual inventory (not owned by Whiteflash). Only the diamonds they hold in their inventory are eligible for the upgrade policy.

While I agree that Martin @ USA Certified Diamonds is very reputable, comes highly recommended and provides great service, my experience is that his pricing is based on wire transfer and though he will accept credit card payment, the additional fees are high. Also, it is my understanding is that in some cases his diamonds are final sale/non-returnable (I believe when they are called in from overseas). I actually worked with him on a diamond he had listed, but ultimately passed because of these terms. Though it is worth contacting him to confirm, given OP's recent experience with ED, USA Certified Diamonds might not be the right fit in this case.

IDJ is also very reputable, comes highly recommended and provides great service. I've purchased from them and they have more standard policies on payment methods and returns.

GL, OP. I am so sorry this happened to you and all others affected. Just awful.

Don't all the recommended vendors use the same type of payment method? What additional fees are you talking about ?
I have done business with Martin @ USA Certed Diamonds and he is a straight forward vendor. His prices are very reasonable and he sources excellent stones.
I strongly disagree with your statement.

To clarify, I am not suggesting that Martin is not a straight forward vendor and I agree that he is highly recommended and provides a great service. However, in my experience, the prices shown are for wire transfer only and though he can accept credit card payments, the fees for credit card payments are an additional 6-9% (I don't recall the exact amount, but it was higher than the typical 4-5% savings for wire transfer offered by most other vendors). He also informed me that because the particular diamond I was interested was oversees, it was a final sale/non-returnable unless it did't match the GIA certificate, which of course it would...that wasn't the issue, the issue was me seeing the diamond with my own eyes and it meeting my expectations. He is a great guy, very responsive and knowledgeable, but his terms did not work for me and given OP's recent experience with ED, I assume OP might be a bit gun shy. I am sorry you disagree with my statement, but those are my facts based on my experience and I am not trying to disparage him or his company.

There are about 250 I+ SI1+ cushions in the PS search engine right now:
https://www.pricescope.com/diamonds/RP69pz

It's a bit of a pain to sort through them as you have to click through to see if they have actual pictures on the listings, but at least you have a good number of options to consider :)

No photos/video on this one but a very clean plot and the faceting diagram suggests it's not crushed ice. Medium Blue fluor should also lift the colour in UV-rich lighting environments:
https://www.b2cjewels.com/dd/124318...m_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Video on this one and looks pretty crisp, with perhaps only some 'mush' under the edges of the table at some tilt angles? Doesn't 'window' (go see-through) too badly at tilt angles and nice colour/clarity combo! (for my taste, anyway ;-) lol)

Rhino/Jon at August Vintage Inc. has some lovely vintage-feel cushions - limited range right now but he might well be able to cut to order if you ask him!

Yoram at Gemconcepts also has some vintage cuts that are lovely - not much in the online shop at the moment but, again, he can custom cut!

Hey Casey...I hear ya! I almost got an entirely other stone even though WC found the one that I looked for for months. I ended up getting a different setting and am hoping it helps purge the memories! Blessings finding a new one!
