Ebay 18k yellow gold marquise diamond 5 stone engagement

I'm concerned about the bowtie of that marquise. Are you in the market for a marquise specifically or any bargain eBay ring?

Marquise on eBay are so fun. So unique with personality. Just a little hard to shop for. I found one recently.

Is your budget 800?

As an owner of a 20 stone marquis eternity band I am no longer a fan of marquis cut stones. The points chip and are constantly getting loose in their prongs and are not very popular in todays market. Unless you love this fancy cut......

So I do think marquise are coming back. They were VERY popular in the 80s, and the higher you fly the harder you fall. And subsequently marquise were the epitome of dated back in the 90s and 00s. However, the young brides today are not familiar with this shape, as for 20 years they have been completely avoided. Anyone under my age hardly know them.

To people who are not familiar with the gaudy gold rings of the 80s do not associate it that way, and are finding it a refreshing, and a unique shape you don't see that often.

Plus they look bigger and the rising cost of diamonds and finger sizes, they are a nice solution.

I'm sorry, but I hardly think they are coming back. Yes, maybe here on PS, but not in the real world proper. Ovals and pears are becoming popular shapes since they do have the elongating effect, but I think marquises will suffer from the unfortunate connotations of being associated with the large, elaborate yellow gold bands of the 80s for a while yet. There are definitely some beautiful marquise rings I have seen here in more modern settings, but unfortunately I don't think the ebay ring posted above is one of those that would change most people's views on marquise. Also as mentioned it does have quite a bit of bow tie. I'm not a fan of the rounds in the setting between the marquise and baguettes either.

Seems to me whatever comes around on PS comes around main stream 5 ish years later. Look at old post for halos and cushions you notice it.

I'm not saying they are coming back to their original 80s popularity, but they aren't a no no like they used to be. I mean look at Zeta Jones or Posh Spice. And lately I've seen more people looking for them than princesses.

I decided against it...I sort of got frightened after I read they can chip and crack! Thanks ladies! :D

Any diamond, rounds included, can chip and crack. Some diamonds, those with points corners such a marquise and princess cuts, are more prone to do so.
