Hi Harriet. I
30.gif
30.gif
the second! You are asked for honesty so .......................well i am not a fan of the first. I think it is too edgy and may look dated in pictures in years to come.
Just my opinion

Kate dear,
Thanks for the input.
P.S. You remember the Tim Tams, right?
Harriet I think the alterations will truely make this a perfect dress for city hall!
I hope to come to NY in July and I will bring Tim Tams promise

I like both dresses a lot.

The Chanel is edgy and fashionable... personally, I don''t think I would regret wearing it or worry about it being too dated.

Really, practically any dress is going to look dated to some degree and there may be fringe or scallops or lace or beads that you choose now that you wouldn''t choose in a couple decades. I don''t think the bold fringe is any different in that sense to a wedding dress with ruching or a sash or any other detail that suits your taste now- it almost makes it kind of bridal without being froofroo. I think with the alternations it will be stunning. I think ivory or gold accents could work depending on what you want- ivory for a softer look, gold for a bolder look. I really do like it.

The Valentino, well... it''s Valentino. It''s gorgeous. And in red charmeuse?! Holy hot tamale! Stunning.
That''s exactly the look I want! Call me unsentimental or cheap, but I''d like to be able to use my wedding dress more than once.

Katebar,
Promise you'll post the menu?

I love the Chanel and the Valentino! I LOVE that Chanel for the same reasons Indy mentioned...edgy, but in that signature Chanel way. I think it will be perfect for a city hall wedding! Special, and bridal, but not overly bridal. (Not that there''s anything wrong with bridal...you know what I mean!)

And the Valentino in red-to die for! It''s going to look stunning. I hope we get to see real life pics, even if they don''t have faces on them!

Right on Harriet!

I love them both. You have impeccable taste! I love the Chanel dress. Chic and so much fun for City Hall. When I did the City Hall deal, so many looked overdressed and stuffy. This dress is so great. I really do think it's perfect for a City Hall ceremony. Oh, and I love those enormous pearl drops on the model.
Will you wear pearls?

And the 2nd dress?

KABLAM! Gorgeous!

Well done!

I adore the second dress. It''s absolutely stunning!! I''m not too fond of the chanel as is, but I''d say it will look much better with the gold trim and with the alterations. I''m still swooning over the second dress though!

Harleigh and Stephanie,
The seamstress tweaked and pinned for the longest time. When she was done, the dress looked like it was made for me. It did look like a sack without her touches.
Yay!

I'm so glad it turned out well for you!

I don''t know. I associate pearls with work because I wear them to work very very often.

Manolo queen,
Any shoe suggestions? That is about the only brand I''m comfortable in.

I haven''t decided. I''m leaning towards gold. What do you think of the pockets? The seamstress wants to lower them, but I''m thinking about removing them.

Any particular colour that you''re looking for?

Not sure what colour the gold trim will be but how about something like this if you want a smaller heel

here

I love these criss-cross pair

manolos 3

Or if you want a more bridal white pair

here

Also they had my Sedarabys in white when I was in NY in January. I love those shoes so much and they''re so comfortable. They had them in white in Barneys.

I love the last pair with the dress. You are going to one the CLASSIEST lady to set foot in City Hall

I have to admit, I wasn''t immediately taken with dress number one at first, but after hearing how the alterations made it look like it was made for you, I''m really excited for you about it! I think, whether you choose gold or ivory detail, it will look incredible. The second dress is gorgeous, and I''m sure bee* will hook you up with your perfect shoes for both dresses. I can''t remember--do you know what jewelry you''re going to wear?

I like it with the gold...I think it''s all the black on the model that''s throwing me off. With gold, it would bring it back into the typical Chanel that I like. (I think ivory would blend too much). I don''t love the pockets; not sure they really do anything for the dress. I don''t like lowering them as it would throw off the balance of the dress.

Depending on the gold, I like these.

Gold Manolos

Harriet, I am sorry to be coming in so late to your thread! I think you are going to look amazing in both dresses!! You will look cool and elegant and classy! I can''t wait to see a photo of you in the dresses!!

It''s a shame there''s not time to have it made....

Thanks, Bee. Gold eould be great. The first pair might work. I''ll try to go to the boutique this coming week.

Gwendolyn,
Believe it or, I have no idea as to the jewellery! Unfortunately, the tsavs won''t go, especially with the red.

No worries, Maisie. You''re not late at all. In fact, I didn''t think you looked at this section.

I look here from time to time Harriet. My hubby and I are intending to renew our wedding vows at some point and I love looking at what everyone else is doing

I thought it might do that, but with a pair of stilettos, it makes me look seriously leggy.
wait, harriet, is that a bad thing?
2.gif
(i''ve got no legs to speak of... i''m envious!)

the Valentino is perfect, and with the alterations made to suit your body and the ivory or gold trim, i think the Chanel will be something else!

I''d skip the pockets to make it a wee bit timeless. You won''t be using them anyway.

Not at all. I''m sure you''re exaggerating.
Thanks!

I think so too.

Have not seen all the photos posted in terms of necklaces but will weigh in generally.

Totally think the first dress is too trendy and too much going on. Even without bolero and different trim. I adore and own a lot of Chanel but that dress does not grab me, but certainly if you have tried it on and love it, great. Just seem not in your style, from what I know of you here.
I like the second dress, trying to picture the shade of red. I would go glam, red lips, simple eye make up, those HW earrings and NO necklace. That boat neck is really not a necklace neck unless you do a choker which I still think is too much. The bow adds interest to the top and that layer on the swoopy part of the neck give enough drama. I would do diamond bangles or a gorgeous diamond cuff instead. I would use gold accessories, like a strappy Jimmy Choo sandal and a great gold clutch.
