Does this pink diamond need a rose gold cup under it?

It would be great to get some input from color diamond jewellery experts on this.

I am having this fancy light pinkish brown diamond set into a halo ring with E color melee in white gold with the centre stone mounted in rose gold. A rose gold cup under the diamond (with a tiny hole for cleaning) has been suggested as the standard approach to setting a diamond with some pink color to it.

My concern is that even with a small hole in the cup it will still be hard to keep the ring clean myself (and I love to have my rings sparkly clean).

However, I do want to have this set in a way which maximises the pinkness of the diamond.

I have read various PS threads about cupping, and there seems to be a suggestion that if the diamond is very well cut then the metal around the stone (and underneath) has less effect on the color. I am assured that this diamond has a beautiful make (the specs are: table: 57%, depth 64.7%, girdle med- v thick faceted, polish ex, symmetry ex). I am wondering whether, given the color saturation (fancy light) and the lovely cut, a rose gold cup will make much difference?

Or can anyone post any pictures of partial cups, or other structures under colored diamonds designed to enhance the color, but still allowing easy cleaning without at steamer?

Also, I am torn between setting the centre diamond in four rose gold prongs, one at each corner of the cushion, or a design with many tiny bead-like prongs (mil-prong) all around the edge which hold the stone in place and are more subtle than the four prongs, whilst giving some extra rose gold definition/ outline around the stone. I'm unsure whether the mil-prong setting will also enhance the pink in the stone or just look too busy given that the centre diamond is around half a carat.

Here is the mil-prong setting:

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Are there any FCD experts or owners who can advise on this please?

I had a FLY that I cupped with a hole in the bottom of the cup to assist with cleaning. It was harder to clean as gunk got stuck in there. It seems people who do a fully enclosed cup are happier with it as dirt is harder to get in but then you can't really clean under it once set. For me if I could do it again I would have it be fully enclosed.

I dislike cups in general as they make cleaning the diamond a PITA. That said, I think your diamond will benefit from the added colour. How much difference do you see when it is sitting atop in a rose gold basket compared to a rose gold cup?

No color stone expert, just wanted to say pretty stone. Do they do rose gold cups? I think rose gold might help it more if you
choose to do a cup. What does the setting look like? If you are putting white diamonds near it (halo) then it might not need
a cup?

The tricky thing is that I havent seen the stone loose. I decided to just have it mounted and purchase it as a complete ring, so I havent been able to do those experiments myself. I could ask the vendor to do it though, they are very helpful.

The setting is an E color diamond halo with pave in the shank as well. So nice and white next to the FCD in the centre.

I don't own any colored diamonds, but I just wanted to stop by to say that stone is gorgeous! I absolutely love the color! :appl:
