Difference in platinum and white gold

Is there a difference with the colour of white gold (that hasnt been regularly rhodium plated) and the colour of platinum?

would there be much of a contrast in colour? There are not many jewellers in the mall (in Australia) that stock platinum bands to check out the difference with the white gold.

I have a white gold band and thinking of getting a platinum band to sit next to it. i am assuming that there will be different wear rates as well. one is softer than the other????

Greg I have a 5 stone ec band in 18k WG. I am having my 1ct EC diamond set in a sholdt setting right now and was considering having that done in platinum. I was advised not to have the two different metals as I plan on wearing them together as a set. I was told they would age differently and the metals would never match up so I went with 18k for for ring. Hope this helps.

Side note-I'm a huge fan of step cut stones and tension settings. Can't wait to see your ring!

Most of the yellowing of wg would be on the palm side of the shank, and maybe (as with mine) on the prongs (or in your case the edges of the tension opening)

Thanks for the advice. and i got a call from the jeweller and she said that it would be ready today!!!! and then by the time it gets to me; hopefully Friday.... I told her that my birthday is on Saturday and she made a point that it will be in my hands/ finger on Friday!!!!!!!!!! AMMMMMM sooooooooo exxxcccciiiiitttteeedddd!!!!!!!
