My husband and three sons, and I had our second dose of the Pfizer shot yesterday evening. I woke up perfectly fine barely even a sore arm. My youngest is the same but with a more sore arm, one son woke up in the night a little sweaty and took Tylenol, next son is dizzy with a headache and a super sore arm, and my husband has fever/chills and is still in bed at 11 am. Just got him Tylenol and a heating pad and coffee. What a mixed bag!
I am just going with mom’s are tough! I really expected more symptoms.

In addition to the side effects I mentioned earlier, on days 7-9 I had what felt like a large burning lump in my throat on the same side I had the first shot. It was pretty uncomfortable, so I took ibuprofen and used a heating pad on my neck. I had planned to call my doctor this morning if it wasn’t getting better, but it seems to be letting up today.

So my oldest daughter got her 2nd shot last week and had terrible aches, chills and also a fever. Passed quickly and she was back on her feet in under 12 hours. Pfizer.

It is a weird feeling. And basically nothing about it online. Did you do benadryl on shot two? I do worry about the second shot because I was having problems swallowing and talking post shot, plus half of my face wasn't moving when I talked. I have never had anything like that before.

I don’t want to suggest anything but Bells Palsey is a potential side effect from the mRNA shots. Likely J&J has same risk profile but I haven’t read VAERS in a while. Please ask your doc before you take dose two.

I thought of the same thing, but then assumed I was making too many assumptions.

It was there for around 20 hours, give or take. Since then, it has abated. I have had eye twitching on my right side though since but not constant (comes and goes), which is the side of the shot and some feeling that my eye isn't moving freely, if that makes any sense. It has not been consistent though for either issue.

My husband and I had our first shot of the Moderna vaccine last week. Both of us had a sore arm the next day. We also both felt slightly more tired than we would normally feel and just a little off the next day. I feel very grateful that we were able to get the shot.

Sounds like a possible allergic reaction with the swelling of the throat.

Very sore arm and achy all over today. Slight headache last night. Otherwise ok. So happy and thankful to have both shots done!

I still have throat pain on one side 13 days out. Maybe it is from swollen lymph nodes? No idea and no one in authority is trying to understand and communicate what exactly is happening to cause this. Some people react very strongly to these vaccines. Sorry to be a curmudgeon.

I called the department of health for my state today to get some guidance on what I should do with the second vaccine. They also took down the report about the symptoms and they actually had me talk to a nurse. I think it might be worth letting your state health department know as well if you are in the United States, because they did track it and at least take a report. I agree that there are some very frustrating parts of this process.

Mr T & I are now 5 hours on from our 1st doses of Moderna here in the UK. I had a few bleeding issues at the time, so had to have a dressing & pressure cuff for 25 minutes, but that was due to my bleeding disorder (which they were fully clued up on) & not the vaccine. Me & inter-muscular injections are not friends. I had to have ice applied as well, but it's done the trick & there is no swelling.

We both took paracetamol before we went & will take more at bedtime. So far we both have a slightly tender arm & are both feeling a bit more tired than usual for 9.15pm. Me thinks it'll be an early night.

Fingers crossed for no fever. Will update tomorrow.

@mrs-b Take your temp tomorrow even if you think you don’t have a fever. Both my husband and I ran low grade fevers although we didn’t think we had one. I took it in the morning the day after..no fever...Then I took it at lunch..and had one.

@elizat - I searched online too and found very little. The tingly feeling persists, it comes and goes. Mostly on my tongue and in my legs. I feel at times that it's all in my head but I know its not. My dr is perplexed but he checked my file and I went to him pre-pandemic complaining about a tingly feeling in my legs, and how they will at times get pins and needles. He's told me to come back if it gets worse because he wants to rule out MS. I don't think I have MS, but I do feel different after the vaccine. I am now reading boosters may be a yearly thing and I worry about this. Deep breaths for me.

As far as shot #2, I brought Benadryl with me but didn't need to take it. I did get the tingly feeling in my mouth but it was manageable. Felt it about 10 min after the shot , focused on breathing and relaxing, and I stayed in observation for 30 minutes.

I hope this helps and I'll have you in my thoughts for your second shot. This should be such a relief filled experience.

We are 24 hours on from our 1st Moderna now. I woke at 3am for the loo & found i was a little sweaty & my arm was very sore around the injection site, so I struggled to get back to sleep. This morning both Mr T & I felt a little tired & both have sore arms - his is a little tender but mine is quite uncomfortable. However, I was still able to head out for a run with no problems. We both took more paracetamol at breakfast & again at 2pm, so I think we're home & dry.

Neither of us had any fever, nausea, or any of the other side effects, so I'm going to vote to say I had just a sore arm.

@Alex T When you go for your second shot I wouldn’t take paracetamol (our acetaminophen)..Taking it before is said to dampen the immune response. I don’t think it will make a difference that you took it the first time as it’s a primer dose. The second dose seems to be the one that is the most important. Check with your doctor to make sure.

We are actually advised to take it for BOTH shots here, but advised to completely avoid any Ibruprofen products, which are anti-inflammatory & work against vaccinations being 'taken' well.

My mother & MIL both had 2nd jabs as opposite ends of the UK earlier this week, and both were told by their respective Dr to take paracetamol for 24 hours.

Day 2 and just a sore arm and tiredness. Unfortunately, tho, I'm one of those people on immunosuppressant drugs, so I'm hoping that didn't dampen the efficacy of the shot. My gastro dr told me to make sure there were a few days between my Humira shot and the vaccine shot - and I had 8 days in the interim. She said that would help a lot. So there you go.

No headache or chills this time around - much easier than the first one.

Guidance in the UK hasn't changed regarding the use of paracetamol, even though it acknowledges the CDC report from the US in the NHS data, as I've just checked. Whilst they have always been adamant over here on the avoidance of any NSAID products containing Ibruporofen, they are still advocating the use of paracetamol. A painful arm at the injection site that lasts for a couple of days is enough indication that you have reacted sufficiently to the vaccine.
