Hi all,

Our engagement ring arrived and I wonder if we made a good choice? The stone appears smaller than what I expected for a .90 carat (but I don't have much experience, so I might be wrong). Maybe it's the lower color quality that makes it appear smaller to me? I'm thinking of taking it to a jeweler for their opinion..

What are your thoughts, PS experts?

Specs:

~6.10-6.20 in diameter is right on target for face up size on a 0.90ct stone. Is it possible it looks small to you because you haven't really seen a lot of stones in person of this size? Diamonds are small in real life! For example, I have a 1.08ct that faces up at 6.64-6.67mm. Pricescope can really inspire Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome (DSS- what once seemed big now seems small), which is why you see a lot of people on here "upgrading" from their original e-ring...

I think that could definitely be the case! I haven't really seen (or paid attention much) to stones in person. I shopped for this one online and used online images to figure out the style and size

I dont know what your expection was. But if you expected 0.9c to appear as big as 1.0c, this is not really realistic.

Some 1.0 ish carat stones can reach 6.50mm (though 6.4x mm mostly). Your is 6.15mm. Thats whopping 0.35mm difference.

6.15mm is just an average spread for a 0.9c. I personally want 6.20mm.

Many on this forum buy diamonds with technical information.
Many want an ASET before they buy. BN does not offer this info.
Here is an article on PS, there are others if you search "ASET"

One more thing.........the HCA score of 1.8 is not an acceptance tool, but rather a rejection tool.

Thank you! This is very helpful.

The angles are:

Table - 57%
Depth - 62.6%
Crown - 33.5
Pavilion - 41
Culet - none

And the girdle is - 4.5% (slightly thick / faceted)

bump

It is small for its weight due to being overdeep.
