I paid just under 8k for this ring. My gf wanted something simple but classy and decent size stone. Her finger size is 5.5, so I went with thinner band. I shopped for about 2 months, found some way too much, others not a great quality stone. From talking with people from work, I was under the impression that it was a fair deal at the least.

Thought of being "hosed" on price came from talking with sister, who is comparing it to what here's was..but that was 4 years ago and her's was just under 6k and different style.

I love the diamond and think my gf will also. Hopefully the attached pics help a little.

Stats: GIA, F color, 1.2ct, SI1, excellent cut, good symmetry

A diamond bought 4 years ago in a "different style" has basically no bearing on what you spent today. Different cuts are priced differently, and the diamond market fluctuates just like anything else. That's like getting mad that I spent more on my Honda than my friend did who bought hers in 2010.

You need to give us more information on the ring/diamond for anyone to be able to chime in. What's the GIA cert #? What kind of metal for the setting, quality of melee stones? There are many factors involved as to what a ring is "worth."

If you love it, and she loves it, and you can afford it, it really doesn't matter if you overpaid. Enjoy your ring knowing you put a lot of work into it.

is that a hearts on fire?

I have learnt a valuable lesson in life, and that is not to compare myself and what I have against other people, and be happy and content with my lot.

Enjoy the ring as it has a story to tell, your story, for many years to come.

DK :))
