50F93FB9-31CA-458E-B817-7DA47F6D1285.jpeg So I purchased an e-ring from janes Allen .65 Gia triple x RB ( https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...k-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4621694 )the Gia cert online with the diamond is from November 09 2017 but the certification I received with my diamond is from January 05 2019. All the specks are the same as well as the report number but I just thought it was a little odd. Should I just be happy or should I go get an appraisal done to be sure I was sent the correct stone? Thanks in advance!

As per the certificate there is the GIA report number laser inscribed on the diamond's girdle, just check this

My guess is they got it re-certified bc they were afraid the buyer wouldn't be happy with an older report. But yes, I would check the laser inscription.

Some owners/sellers after X number of months have the stone checked and an updated report issued, or they lost the paper copy of the older report and had to submit it and have the stone checked to get a paper copy of the report.
Nothing fishy there.
Getting the inscription checked is not a bad idea.

Ok that makes sense thanks for that explanation!
Also is there any way to check the inscription besides getting a full appraisal done? Or do you recommend I do that anyways? This is our first diamond purchase so we’re still pretty new to what exactly we need to do besides get insurance! Lol

I was able to loupe my own diamond and see the numbers however if you don’t have a loupe just go to any jeweler, they usually have a high powered microscope and loupe. Hopefully they are helpful and not jerks about helping you view your inscription.

I rarely recommend against a full appraisal by a independent appraiser.
Here is a list of independent appraisers.

Or as stated above you can ask a jeweler to verify the numbers for you.

I’ll check for an independent appraiser in my area and try to get it done tomorrow! Thanks for the help everyone!! =)2
