I hope this comes out right. It should be a 2.5, next to a 2.4, next to a 1.5+

Okay, that was odd. Let me try again.

(Great picture, Butterfly! I will note that it was a man's hand, so the stones are really bigger than they look!)

Here's one of a 1.0, 1.2, and 1.4 on a hand (from Good Old Gold)

Okay, I hope this one comes out clear. I kept cropping it to get it to fit.

great thread diamondseeker, thanks for starting it!! i was always trying to figure this stuff out on my own.

DS: You posted an actual size comparison a while back I think.. that one was great...

Thanks...I am glad it is helpful!

ds2006 - thanks for putting this all in one place! I''m always hunting and pecking looking for it...

This really should be a permanent message at the top of the rocky talky page!

WOW!!!! Thanks for the beautiful pics and the comparrisons! I was just trying to figure out the visual difference between .53 and .73 and you have a similiar photo side by side!

Excellent work DS!

Just bear in mind for new members reading, that sizes may be approximate and can vary, so use as a guide only, also that the chart measurements may be optimistic in some cases, according to one of the experts here.

This really should go into the FAQ section where it can be found and referred to easily.

Great thread - useful info AND shiny things to admire! :)

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the half carat jump from 0.5ct to 1ct is more dramatically noticeable than the jump from 1.5ct to 2ct?

Is it because the 0.5ct increase is a greater % of the initial carat weight in the first case than the second, so appears more noticeable?

Size jumps are less noticable the larger you go, with the bigger diamonds of 1.5 to 2 cts for example, than with the smaller carat weights Cleo, so yes you are right! That is why sometimes when wanting to increase face up size when you already have a largeish diamond, you have to go bigger still to get a noticable difference, but of course people's various size perceptions can vary.

OK, found the post I was looking for... Ellen posted it in another thread... I'll cut and paste it...
