Diamond Ring Guards for split-shank Halo E-Rings?

I have a halo ring that is a split-shank so it comes out a bit wider and then tapers - thinking about a ring guard that would NOT hug the setting but curve outwards somewhat -
1. Have you ever seen/heard of this idea? If so, can you link me to pics, etc.?
2. Do you think I could take a regular ring guard to a jeweler & have it modified??
3. Do you think it would look good? I can post a pic of my ring
4. Last question - I usually wear the band (last 2 pics) - do u think this is the best option?? I like wide/chunky wedding sets - but would love to hear objective opinions!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
