No one is looking at angles or paperwork / just the bright white rock on your finger - enjoy every moment staring at your stunner!
This is very true! Again thank you so much x

Hi thank you, yes I believe that’s what it is that 60/60 are for brightness not fire. I guess I’m worried I’ve missed out on a ‘magical’ property by not having a fiery diamond - again I’d love peoples views on this, I do also think it exhibits some fire
We have all been where you are. As others have said, it's a nice diamond.
I once read the best advice on this very forum and it sticks with me to do this day.
"comparison is the thief of joy"
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your input, I’m only just catching up as for some reasons I wasn’t getting notifications! @freddyboston yes that is the diamond posted on blue Nile thank you so much for finding it! I wonder how my uk jeweler came to acquire it as he already had it in his inventory he didn’t order it in but he is actually a wholesaler of diamonds - he is Indian and started his career there so I’m guessing lots of contacts.
It’s really made me feel better that the general view is that it’s a well cut and nice diamond..I had in my head 60/60 was bad and he had kind of seen someone with a decent budget but not much clue about diamonds coming his way. I have no reason to think this as his customer service skills have been great ever since, which is why I think he’d be open to the possibility of me exchanging if I wanted to. He does offer a life time trade in policy too which I have in writing.
I’m really glad I found this community as you have all really helped put my mind at ease![]()
An E VS puts you in rarefied company! Maybe the reddit folk were jealous!
I have no idea..I guess I thought posting in a diamond forum it’s kind of like you can have ‘better’ than some and others will have better than you and that’s just accepted!
I love a beautiful 60/60, and that's what you've got. And a 60/60 "favors brightness" just means you get a bit more brightness but you will definitely still get fire -- you won't be missing any magical diamond properties I promise
Honestly, if you can reframe your story -- you actually got exactly what you prioritized, size and brightness -- and you actually got a very well cut 60/60 (which isn't easy) -- yay!
What you don't have is a return policy, and you don't actually know you would prefer any other stone over the one you chose -- without those two key elements, why not let the angst and stress go, and choose to fully accept and celebrate the actual gorgeous ring on your finger?
Best wishes, and congratulations by the way!
People are people and jealousy or envy can be an ugly thing. It sometimes rears itself in places you least expect…..
Hi all,
I had a look at diamonds on blue Nile that are the same spec as mine, as I already knew they are cheaper, I’m not going to bang that drum! But why do they differ so much in price? There are currently 3 x 2.5 on there E VS2 but the prices are very different!
Also I’d love some clarification from the post from @freddyboston in terms of AGS, do the other cuts essentially ‘make up’ for the 60/60 and help with fire? And does it mean that I actually have an AGS 0? That would be awesome if so!![]()
The price differences between diamonds on an online store can sometimes be explained by the cut quality
So if a diamond has proportions closer to ideal then it would be higher? With that in mind should I have expected mine to be lower than others with the same spec but closer to those ideal ranges or as some other have said above is it the proportions that matter more? Hope that makes sense!

Or it could have cost more because it is an especially nice cut for a spready stone.
Pricing can also depend on when a diamond was cut and came to market. Prices fluctuate according to the market, so hard to pinpoint exact reasons. Super ideal cut diamonds are cut for light performance, not weight. Therefore, more rough is expended in their cutting resulting in higher cost to produce. Most super ideal cut diamonds have been purchased by a company or supplier, are in house and their sales price is largely based on what they paid for them. Your diamond is a GIA triple excellent so that diamond would trade higher than a non triple excellent. As with all things, price depends on what one is willing to pay for it. I am going to assume that your diamond was purchased by someone (maybe yourself?) that was willing to pay the asking price for it. You are trying to determine if the price is fair and we can't tell you that answer. Don't know what was paid for yours, nor do I need to know. You can't go back and renegotiate the sale so unless it has caused a hardship, I would just put that out of your mind. Prices fluctuate based on many different reasons, so what one would cost today might not be reflective of what it cost yesterday or next week.
well Blue Nile had it @ 38,4k USD but a Brick and Mortar store would obviously be higher due to overhead.... Also he was able to steer you to a good one (@ BN the buyer has to do more work).... He also listened to what you wanted Bright and Larger looking.... Maybe he could done a better job keeping you from orig setting your E stone @ Yellow Gold.....

For naturals - BN is less than most B+M stores but generally slightly higher than other online vendors... (BN also sometimes has nice proprietary/exclusive stones unavailable to other vendors)Thank you extremely helpful - and makes me feel a little better about the price. Do blue Nile usually have fair prices?
I did ask the jeweler if I could have a look at one with more ideal specs but he seemed genuinely flummoxed and I actually think I’ve offended him which wasn’t my intention.
