Hello and thanks in advance for the help!

I am looking for a round diamond for my girlfriend to go in a similar setting to the DB Classic Pave Solitaire (which I also need to find a jeweler to replicate). http://www.debeers.com/db-classic-pave-solitaire-ring-j1ex02bp

The ranges for the diamond I am looking for are the following:
Carat: 2.65-3.0
Cut: Excellent
Color: H-I
Clarity: VS2-SI1
My budget for the diamond is ~$28,000.

Here is a diamond I have been looking at:

I appreciate any recommendations and advise!

That JA stone you posted is not well cut. If I had $28k I would go with Whiteflash

You dont have to get a jeweler to replicate that setting. There are plenty out there that look very similar.

Edit ...
A similar Ratani

Note that the diameter of the Whiteflash stone that tyty recommended is larger in diameter than the one at James Allen. It is because the James Allen stone is way too deep. I'll post the parameters to use if you continue searching, but here's another option in addition to the one tyty posted:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3596858.htm

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

None of the James Allen stones - they are not well cut. See below for comments on WF stones. I'd ask WF to pull the 2.584 ct I VS2 and the 2.507 ct H SI1 and tell you which one performs better.

Thanks for all the advise. It has been very helpful in choosing a diamond. I have selected the following diamonds and would appreciate help narrowing the list down. Thanks again.

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3670639.htm beautiful stone

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3596858.htm beautiful stone

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3701014.htm pretty, but I'd probably rule it out because the majority of inclusions are under the table (even though, they're white and it has the eye clean mark)

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3642074.htm this is a virtual stone and that is a sample image, so I would rule it out

I was wondering if there was a significant difference in the "A Cut Above" title versus the other Whiteflash diamonds?

I agree with ac117. I like the 2.584 I VS2.

Thanks for all of your guidance!

I went and looked at the WF diamonds, as I live in Houston and came away really liking this one:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3701014.htm

I wanted to check all of the other sites to see if I could find any other options as the WF diamond is on the smaller side of the recommended ranges I received from my girlfriend. I found the following options through other vendors that have the ideal ranges diamondseeker2006 recommended.

I will likely get the diamond set in a custom setting by Brian Gavin.

You can't go wrong with WhiteFlash, but they do have higher prices.

Some of the diamonds you listed are actually the same ones. So you only actually posted 4 options. :)

Try asking Blue Nile for photos of their diamond; you might luck out. I'm not sure how they could tell you it's eyeclean. Some people mentioned that they had diamonds from Blue Nile sent to David Atlas to be appraised. I don't know how that works. You could also try ordering blind. It's sort of a gamble. Returning a diamond of that value will probably cost around $150 as BN doesn't pay for return shipping.

Try asking B2CJewels if they have any more photos of their diamond. If not, they told me I could buy the diamond, and they would take ASET, IS, and H&A photos for me before mailing the diamond to me. That would save me the trouble of getting it shipped to me and returning it if I didn't like it. As it turned out, after I ordered the diamond and before I sent them the wire transfer, they were able to send me the ASET and IS after all. So you may luck out and not have to wire them anything.

I don't know if Adiamor and Eternity by Yoni could get photos for you like B2CJewels does?

The last thing to try is to ask Jonathan at Good Old Gold if he knows of any possibilities for you. He might be able to find you something a less expensive than WhiteFlash.
