Hi All

Hoping i could get some advice on a diamond I'm almost about to buy to pop the question on.

There is so much information on the net - so shot for the mid range of ideal cut diamonds and manged to fianlly find one within my budget. This one is slightly out of spec, a 40.6% crown angle, table angle of 58 instead of 57 and apparently the lower girdle should be 80% instead of 75%.

Round, 1.1ct, VS2, D color, Faint Flouresence,

Table: 58%
Depth: 60.7%
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavillion: 40.6
Star: 50%
Lower Girdle: 75%
Girdle: Med to slightly thick 3.5%

HCA Score is 0.8 - and it says it looks bigger then actual size.

If you could let me know what you think - and if any of the slightly of spec areas are reason for concern.

You are in the safe range on all values. 58 table is fine (although many prefer 54-57). Crown angle of 34.5 and pavilion angle of 40.6 should work together nicely, and the lower girdle of 75% will give more prominent arrows, which many of us prefer.

Do you have any pictures? And what is the price?

Thanks for your help

I have attached a pic of the diamond aswell as the ASET. Unfortunately the ASET is in black and white - which to my basic understanding doesn't really help in determining the light return.

The price is $9500.

I don't see a picture. Did you upload it to PS from the "my attachments" tab?

Sounds great!
Can you send us the link (if it’s from an online vendor)?
Wow... lucky, lucky lady to be possibly getting a D color, VS2!!!!!!!!!

Hi All

Apologies - hope it comes through this time.

Those aren't aset images, they are h&a images. That said, the arrow shafts look really odd to me. Do you need D color, or are you open to E/F? Where are you buying from, and are you open to alternatives?

Thanks for the advice,

As it is evidently clear - I am new at this... :)

I’ve attached the GIA report below.

https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=5201334422&s=1567457262917#

I’m purchasing it from a jeweler in CT South Africa - and believe it or not it’s actually a struggle to get reasonably priced good quality stones that the online retailers like whiteflash, bluenile and James Allen have. Especially when I factor in the 20% duty i’l have to pay to bring it in.

I could go and pick it up, but the $1k ticket to pick it up leaves me more or less on par in price with what I’m currently paying and without the hassle of a 14 hour flight.

Happy to go with E, but again limited by the selection of stones we have in SA for a retail customer of super ideals at reasonable prices

would taxes/customs fees be high if you purchase in Europe?

Unfortunately the duty is levied on the SA side - I know JA and Blue Nile add the 20% UK Vat/sales tax already on their stones when you select UK as a shipping destination, there is another retailer called 77 Diamonds in the UK - very similar but same issue with the customs

Ok - managed to get the Idealscope and Aset images for the above stone.

Any insight would be much appreciated. The ideal scope looks alright to me, ASET doesn’t look great. But again don’t really have much of a reference point on Aset other then what I see on whiteflash.

I’m not expecting the best light performance given my budget - like the cut above ranges - but hoping for very good/excellent light performance.
