I just wanted to jump in here (as I''m not usually on these threads...not smart enough to keep up
3.gif
) and say that my mom became a citizen 3 months ago and today she voted for Obama!

I''m a little surprised at her choice but she has her reasons and I''m proud of her for voting.
Good for her!

And trill, I saw that vet vid awhile back, funny, and true.

It''s on HuffingonPost now! link to ad
Thanks for the link! Outstanding ad, seriously.
Just watched it . . . and it was awesome!!!
9.gif

Welcome, everyone! After Ellen told us about it I checked HuffPo until it popped up! Love that website-they have everything any bleeding heart liberal like myself would want to see!
3.gif

And yeah, that ad is effective!

So, I just wanted to let my fellow Dem candidate supporters know that in the 2 mile drive home from picking FF up at school, I saw 7 Obama signs, 2 McCain signs, 1 McCain bumper sticker and 5 Obama stickers.

Woot!

Lol Kaleigh!!!!!!I can''t imagine what it''d be like to have the person I live with have opposite political leanings!!!I get pretty...excited about politics. Hahahaha!!!!
Oh, Freke, it''s not fun!!! DH isn''t registered, so of course he can''t vote in this election (
20.gif
), but he would probably vote for McCain if he could. We have a rule at our house: we DO NOT discuss politics under ANY circumstances whatsoever!!!
32.gif

OMG Ditto! We Do Not Talk About Politics. We did for about a month and then called a truce.
He''s registered but we live in Obama''s home state so he figures, what''s the point. But the look I shot him right after that made him reply, Okay, okay, I''ll vote; Even though it is for a republican. I remind him that females have only had the right to vote for less than 100 years and in many countries no one has the right to vote for their president. I would never take that privilege for granted.

Funny.

Wow. Who does he have coming up with campaign commercial ideas? That commercial is pretty fantastic.

So far in NM 220,000+ New Mexicans have voted through early voting, and 58% of those are Democrats...

I don't know, but he did a really good job of picking his campaign people, which makes me hopeful that if he wins, he will use as much care in the WH.

Did anyone see Obama on Jon Stewart last night? It made me smile to see him smiling and having fun. He had some funny lines, too - one of which was when he said that he was pretty sure that some Sean Hannity fans wouldn''t want to sit down and have a beer with him. LOL!

I liked when he was asked about the Bradley effect and he said it didn''t seem that white America had gotten the memo.

There are a lot of Obama bumper stickers in South Florida which is really weird considering the majority of S. Floridians are Republican.

Agreed, Ellen! I always wonder why more people don''t think about how poorly McCain''s campaign has been run and how that could easily translate to a poorly run WH! I think based on how well Obama''s campaign has been run, it''s pretty clear that if Obama wins he will surround himself with the best and the brightest!

Economist backs Obama link

Well, McCain still has Al Queda and Joe the plumber.

IT IS impossible to forecast how important any presidency will be. Back in 2000 America stood tall as the undisputed superpower, at peace with a generally admiring world. The main argument was over what to do with the federal government’s huge budget surplus. Nobody foresaw the seismic events of the next eight years. When Americans go to the polls next week the mood will be very different. The United States is unhappy, divided and foundering both at home and abroad. Its self-belief and values are under attack.

For all the shortcomings of the campaign, both John McCain and Barack Obama offer hope of national redemption. Now America has to choose between them. The Economist does not have a vote, but if it did, it would cast it for Mr Obama. We do so wholeheartedly: the Democratic candidate has clearly shown that he offers the better chance of restoring America’s self-confidence. But we acknowledge it is a gamble. Given Mr Obama’s inexperience, the lack of clarity about some of his beliefs and the prospect of a stridently Democratic Congress, voting for him is a risk. Yet it is one America should take, given the steep road ahead.....

Oh and super super cool, the world electoral college map: link

Yes, obv only US citizens can vote in our election, but its really interesting, click around.

The last week quiz link I didn''t do very well, how about you? Are you ready for the election to be here already?

Last one from me tonight! Republicans are neater than dems, do you buy it? link

Did anyone else get a giggle out of McCain''s new gaff at the OH rally?

After calling on Joe The Plumber to stand up and contribute: "Joe''s with us today. Joe, where are you? Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today?"...(met with deathly silence)..Mccain looks around nervously..
"Joe, I thought you were here today," McCain said as the crowd murmured. To his credit, he did try to recover "All right, well, you''re all Joe the Plumber so all of you stand up and say -- I thank you," - The crowd applauds !!

OK, guys, I have a question. I''ve seen that some people think the ad referenced above is "sexist." And if there''s anything I hate, it''s "ism" of any kind . . . sexism, racism, etc. However, I just don''t see the sexism in that ad! From my interpretation of it, it looks like Obama is simply stating his (very valid) concerns that Palin is not someone McCain should be relying on to help him deal with the economy. He could have just as easily said that if Palin were a man. How was the ad sexist? Can someone please enlighten me?

Ya, I thought it too funny not to post Thing ! I know its off topic, but this kinda thing is seriously the main coverage we have received about the election here.
In summation from our media: McCain''s silly/outta the loop; Obama''s the clear leader; Palin''s ...well, you know.. Controversial, shall we say..

Can''t say we haven''t been entertained though - Fi turned to me this arvo exclaiming "This is the most excited I have been about any election, ever!".
Sometimes I wish our politics were half as interesting....

......but then I realize that boring can also be good.

That's exactly what I see too. If he had a man running with him that had the same level of knowledge (or lack thereof) that SP does, it would be no different. I think that's a stretch thinking that.

aj, I saw that too. As I said before, McCain can't seem to catch a break. I really feel kinda sorry for him.... (but I did giggle)

btw, what's "arvo"?

El, I''m glad you agree! I was worried that maybe I was being insensitive to sexism and, as a woman, I was concerned about myself! LOL!
9.gif

And the thing with Joe the Plumber standing McCain up is just HILARIOUS!!! It''s a good thing McCain was able to turn to all those other "Joe the Plumbers" in the absence of the "real" (ha!) Joe the Plumber! LOL!

3.gif

And I''m glad Ellen asked what an "arvo" is, AJ . . . I didn''t have a clue either!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I just got back to my office from a Joe Biden rally at the University of Delaware! Biden is a UDel alum, as is his wife, who was also there. I am SO EXCITED that I got to see the next Vice President of the United States of America speak in person.

I am also super stoked that I will be voting in one of the most important battleground states- Pennsylvania.

I am definitely stopping by the Obama/Biden campaign office that is a block and a half from my house to volunteer to help out on Monday and Tuesday.
