Currently searching for a pair of diamond earrings as a (belated) 10th wedding anniversary gift, was thinking solitaire huggies but also enjoying the stud threads, so that's an option too.

Question for those of you who wear your ear bling daily - do you remove them to shower? Being the low maintenance sort, I don't relish the thought of earrings I'd have to remove and put on every day, but am sure hair conditioner and whatnot would leave a filmy mess. Anyone out there who leaves them in all the time? Do they come out reasonably shiny after your usual wash/rinse cycle?

I don't like to sleep in earrings (or any jewelry for that matter), so I always take them out at night. So when I shower in the morning, I'm not usually wearing them yet. I also like studs more than huggies style, but that's just me. I have toyed with the idea of getting some of those rubbery backs to see if I can sleep in earrings with those on (and not poke myself behind the ear all night). I don't find taking earrings off and putting them back on a big hassle though - it's just like a watch to me.

I wear studs with heavy screwbacks 24/7. I sleep in them, shower in them, exercise in them, etc. They are reasonably shiny after my "shower rinse" cycle but look best when I remove and clean them weekly.

I got my 2.41 studs in February and have taken them out from time to time to clean otherwise never come out. Comfortable and don't even feel them.

I have 1.5ctw studs that I wear all the time. I take them out to occasionally clean them. They are still reasonably sparkly after shampoo and conditioner but look much better when clean.

Thanks all for the replies. Good to know they can be worn through the shower and still look decent.

This is exactly why I prefer huggies to studs - can't stand being poked by the stud backs, even awake and definitely don't think I could sleep in them. Trouble is the huggies are harder to get on and off, depending on the closure type. The most secure ones are a PITA.

Next question - can anyone point me to a decent source for a solitaire huggie? Something along these lines, or maybe a little softer? http://www.uniondiamond.com/Diamond-Hoop-Earrings_JFE9010W

Another 24/7 wearer of my 1.2 ctw studs. No issue - remarkably sparkly and then I do clean em about once a week in the ultrasonic

I don't sleep in mine or shower, etc. partly to keep them clean and partly to keep them from extra wear. I especially wouldn't wear them 24/7 if you happen to use hairspray. Diamonds look the most brilliant when very clean, so the downside to wearing them all the time is that they will pretty much only be really clean on the day you clean them. Ultrasonics work wonders on jewelry that is worn a lot, though!

I have not seen solitaire huggies like that at the usual vendors I buy from. They look very nice, but I would definitely want well cut diamonds no matter the style.

Definitely no hairspray here (back to the whole low maintenance thing, lol). Anything that's going to take even a minute more in my morning prep just isn't gonna happen, hence the need to leave them in... I could hopefully find time to clean them on the weekends though.

Don't know why nobody seems to stock solitaire hoops...

I wear 1.15 in each ear (2.30 total) 24/7. However, they are old mines set in bezels with a .10 set on top in a bezel--on a short wire with a lever back. I take them off every few months and scrub them. However, they rarely look dirty-not sure why .

Those sound heavenly! I want some! How about a picture, pleeeeease!!!

i wear studs 24/7, screw backs..

i take them out to clean them now and then. Really lazy when it comes to these things.

I have 1.28 OEC studs in screw backs. I take them out to clean them about once a week. They look best when freshly cleaned but don't get too dirty in a week. I also do not often use any hair product so they stay fairly clean.

I have huggies like this with a little sapphire in them but have never seen them with a diamond.

That looks like a Stuller stock setting http://www.stuller.com/products/84970/?groupId=108449....

Any vendor can order the setting and set the stones once you pick the diamonds.

Great, thank you! Proportions on that one is a little off what I'm looking for but they have some thicker ones too.

Hmm, doesn't seem to come in platinum (can't do most gold alloys due to severe nickel allergy) - Would it be insane to set good diamonds in silver? I know traditional worry is that it's too soft... Maybe their 18K WG is nickel-free but I'm seriously gun-shy on gold.

I think I bought them at a Fink's store - it was several years ago. I've seen similar ones on Blue Nile.

Just saw some diamond ones here: http://www.diamondwave.com/diamond-huggie-earrings-in-14k-white-gold-1-3-ctw.html (looks like they have many options)

Edited - meant to send this link - platinum ones here: http://www.diamondwave.com/catalogsearch/result/?cat=0&q=diamond+huggie

I have a pair of .82 CTW set in 8-prong studs that I leave in 24/7. I have other I wear, but those are almost always in one set of holes in my ear.
