Tex I''m glad you are feeling confident after talking to WF! I agree, sheerah is great. On a side note, I have always thought that Maisie''s ring was a perfect split shank in terms of the form of the shanks and the thickness, if you agree that could be a good comparison for what you want your shanks to look like.

Gorgeous ring, Tex!!! It sounds like you have definitely picked out a ring that she has specified she wanted! I do also agree with the other ladies, about maybe getting her to try on a bunch of different rings to make sure this design is what she''ll love. Good luck, Tex, but so far so good!!!

I got the work up on the metal work today from WF, attached in this post and the next. I think it looks good to me, but I did have one question that I sent to Joe (the designer):

The mark up of where the metal work will go looks good to me, the only thing I wonder about is the space where the shank joins the gallery... I am imagining it won''t be very much metal, and therefore should probably be left alone? I just want to make sure that isn''t a spot that stands out without the edging... but I think its probably safer to leave it be for the time being so that we don''t make the ring too busy, and then if it looks like it stands out we can always add the engraving/mill grain, right? Can''t take it away, but you can add it, so better off to wait?

Other than that very minor detail, I think it looks good and can''t wait to see the finished product!

What do you all think?

On a side note, I went in and paid for the rest of the ring today and got the process started on the band so that it will be ready in time, by March 10th! They said they normally take 10-12 business days, so with 13 from Monday to the 10th they said that shouldn''t be a problem! I must say it was a great feeling being able to go in and pay with good ol'' cold hard cash and not plastic!

That was a strict rule for me with this ring, to pay in cash, and not finance a single penny... I have just recently worked myself out of dumb credit card debt from college and I didn''t want to start off my marriage with a bill!

Congrats on getting it fully paid for and started! It will be lovely.

yay for you for paying cash! Excellent way to start a marriage. Please do remember to come back with pics when the ring is done. I''m sure many of us would really love to see it!

You can count on it!!! I''ll definitely add them to the thread I started on CAD v Finished products:

Also just realized that I left off the attachments! Here they are:

I really like your design and think it is going to look fabulous once all the engraving and milgrain is done!

A couple questions for you:
Are they going to add milgrain to the bezel around the stone? I ask because you did not highlight that in the photo.

Also, did you think about milgrain on the design details on the side? Like this:

UPDATE!

Whiteflash has sent me some images of the ring after casting and polishing but before all the hand engraving is done... what do you think?

I''m also putting together some comparison shots over on the CAD Rendering v Real Life thread I started:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/cad-vs-finished-product-a-collection-of-comparison-images.136718/

Ring should be completed next week, and then I''ll be proposing on the 14th!!! Very excited!!! I can''t wait to see the finished ring, and even more, can''t wait till she gets to see it!

I think it looks gorgeous, Tex! You obviously put a lot of work into this, and took your girlfriend's preferences into account. I think she will love it. I'm glad you decided to stick with your original plans. WF did a great job! Nice idea for the other thread, btw, it really helps to see the finished product; the CADs are always so strange looking.

hi texirish :)

this is a gorgeous ring. i love your design, and since i''m not really a pave band type either, i LOVE your decision to have the band engraved.

this is my type of ring! great design - love it!

Tex, its turning out beautifully, well done!!

It looks wonderful. I love the side view and how closely it will hug her finger.

Thanks SaraPJ, whitby, Lorelei, and Dreamer!

I love how it has turned out so far, and can''t wait to see the artist''s work on the engraving!

And SaraPJ I couldn''t agree more on the CAD v. Real Life thread, I just hope it doesn''t get lost and I hope someone else can find it and have it be helpful to them. I was doubting myself at the CAD rendering stage until I saw all the images that Sheerah sent me, and really I think this ring also definitely shows the difference between cad and real life really well. It is amazing to see how much more delicate (to me anyway) the actual ring looks compared to the CAD rendering, so I''ve got to give some credit to Joe over at WF... I think its pretty cool that he is able to design the ring from just an idea, but know how to build it so that the finished product is what the customer was talking about after all the sanding/polishing is done.

Its a good thing that it won''t be ready until next week and then right away next weekend I will be proposing, because I don''t think I could keep it hidden for very long, I''m just very excited to see what she will think of it!!!

Thanks again to everyone and their support!
