I think it has a nice contrast/obstruction pattern, it's pretty symmetrical, and the areas under the table looking a bit leaky/brighter in the ASET do still have red/green colours, so all is not lost!
You can compare it to the ASET images for the August Vintage Inc. cushions, to compare to stones cut specifically for light performance, but as @Rockdiamond would also point out, an ASET is not the be-all-and-end-all - if it's beautiful, it's beautiful, and we shouldn't pass on stones that appeal to us because the ASET is not 100% perfect
Have you seen the stone in person? Your eyes are the ultimate test of beauty![]()

I know I’m in the minority here - and all due respect to those who feel differently- but ASET is useless on a CMB. As an example of why- I have found that leakage is an essential element in a great looking CMB. Look at the diamond, not the ASET![]()
I have been of the understanding that it can function similarly to obstruction patterns, in that it can create interesting contrast patterns that increase perceived brightness of those facets that are reflecting (ref: Serg's work) but some science to confirm that theory would be cool!I think PS has been too peaceful lately. I think it is about time we start this discussion again.
I do not necessarily disagree with comments that leakage can be desirable. But I disagree that it is an essential element in CMB. CMBs come in different flavours and different facet patterns.I have been of the understanding that it can function similarly to obstruction patterns, in that it can create interesting contrast patterns that increase perceived brightness of those facets that are reflecting (ref: Serg's work) but some science to confirm that theory would be cool!![]()

Hi John- before we go to deep down the rabbit holeI’m a bit worried there is too much light leakage
Karl- as we're all agreeing to this:
THank you for the suggestion! Will definitely go see and will post a photo.
What this means is that it passes your ASET test.
There's no "correct" answer to which is the best flavor for any of us.
Hi John- before we go to deep down the rabbit hole
Although it's an interesting discussion, everyone who's posted here did so to assist you.
If you're looking at the diamond and you love it, that's the answer.
Personally, I've never been a fan of the way "leakage" is termed- or discussed here- for exactly the reason that you asked this question.
If there was any deficit in the appearance of the diamond with regards to your taste and preference, you'd be the one to see it.
