I''m looking at a cushion brilliant

measurements: 6.45 x 6.24 x 4.12

carat weight: 1.27
Color grade: F
Clarity Grade: VS1

Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

Comments:
additional clouds are not shown
surface graining is not shown
crown angles are greater than 40 degrees.

Table%: 64%
Depth%: 66%
Culet: None

Girdle: medium - very thick
-------

Since there seems to be little information on cushion cut diamonds, I''m uncertain of the light performance of this stone. Or simply the "cut." Is there anything that I should be concerned with in terms of the overall brilliance / fire of this stone. I''m very much familiar with rounds, but not so much when it comes to cushions.

If someone could educate me on cushions, anything / everything you know would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rg

With this diamond there is no way to properly judge without images unfortunately, is the diamond online so you could request an ASET image and photographs?

Cushions are rather more challenging to buy than rounds so if you are just beginning, I would suggest finding out what type of cushion you like best. The two most popular types are the chunky faceted cushion such as the August Vintage Cushion from www.goodoldgold.com and the modern type cushion. If you haven't seen it, watch this video which was specially made by Jon from GOG to assist new cushion buyers. The shape or length to width ratio is also important to decide if you want a square or more elongated cushion.

This is an old thread but still very useful to cushion buyers shows some of the various types -https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-cushion-by-any-other-name.36001/

As with rounds it is cut quality which makes all the difference to whether you get a beautiful cushion or a cut for weight dud, so it is essential to work with a vendor who not only has in house cushions of great cut quality and can also supply images and even videos as above in some cases to help you make an informed decision.

If you are going to buy online, here is a listing of vendors known to have expertise with cushions.
