Hello,

I need help with the cushion images sent by my vendor.
What is worrying me is that the ASET image is having a fair bit of green.
Any form of input will be greatly appreciated.

Carat Size: 1.3
Clarity: VVS2
Color: F
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Very Good

Thank you so much for all your help.

It's not a great performing stone from the looks of it. The symmetry also doesn't look that great either but perhaps its slightly angled. Light loss under the table could contribute to some mushiness too. While it's not bad I think you could probably find something better given more time.

The stone is tilted in the first picture. I think this cushion might perform well in person but would prefer to see a video of it if possible to confirm what the ASET is telling me. Not sure whether there is some sort of a small bowtie either but perhaps it isn't as obvious in person.

I do not know why the search function is not working for me, I recall some threads that discussed asets on these kinds of diamonds, and, I want to say, this one *I think* could be very nice as the flecks are distributed fairly well, and the photograph of the little 'glitter' sparkles look very sharp.

I think Chrono is right to ask for a video- look for the stone to be bright and sparkle uniformly throughout; watch for a bowtie (horizontal band of darkness in the middle) or perhaps darker/dull areas around the edges of the table.

Urgh, I don't want strong spotlights on it. Of course it is going to look fabulous under those lights.

Hello Everyone,

1__1_.jpg1__3_.jpg
I need a little help on the ASET image of the cushion diamond I have selected for my engagement ring with the following specs.

Cushion Modified Brilliant
6.32 x 5.90 x 4.10 mm
1.30 carat
F Color
VVS2
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Very Good

The stone seemed to have uniform sparkle throughout by looking at the ASET image but I'm still worried about the percentage of green on the ASET image as compared to red and any problematic light leakages as I find the ASET image with black background so hard to read. The vendor has added a video of the diamond upon my request using soft daylight equivalent lighting.

To view the video, click on the first thumbnail image and the video will load.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks in advance. :)

For this type of faceting I believe that ASET is what you want the red and green spread evenly throughout.

http://beyond4cs.com/2014/12/aset-reference-charts/

Is this the type of faceting that you prefer?

Have you researched the different types of facet patterns in cushion cuts?

Here is a great discussion of cushion ASETS:

Hope this helps.

FYI high color and clarity does not necessarily make the most beautiful diamond. The cut determines the beauty to the eye....not color and clarity as all newbies believe. As long as the stone is eye clean you don't need to pay for a VVS stone. VS2 and SI1 that are eye clean will save you big $$'s. And G color is also icy white. An excellent cut I color cushion can out perform a poorly cut F color believe it or not.
Well cut cushions are rare so you need to educate yourself before you spend your hard earned money on one.

Check out this recent thread on the OP looking for a cushion and the gemologist recommended the J stone over the two H colored cushions because of it's performance and brightness.

Pricescope search not working anymore for me either. I emailed them but no response. I just have to go to google and put in "pricescope" and then the info i'm searching for.

Did you already buy it? Saying it is "sold". Maybe you put it on hold?

Looking again at the ASET, personally I would want to see more red under the table than predominantly green. But these you have to view in person to see if you like the stone. You can't always tell by ASETS alone.

Yes, I have already paid and the stone is currently on hold.i have to make a decision whether to have it delivered, return it for another stone or have my money refunded.

The have a video in the first thumbnail in the link which I've requested to understand the ASET better and to have a better view of the stone.

Thanks for the all links.

I've been looking for a month or two. Would you be able to tell from the video posted on the website if the stone will perform well in person?

Here is a comparable cushion with a lot more red in the ASET. I can't speak to real life viewing differences in these two, so I don't mean to lead you astray- this ASET also shows areas of leakage. But, it is worth comparing what is out there, so:

***I am not an expert, so, hopefully Chrono or Gypsy or Charmy or another one of the experts can help out. I think your Whiteflash cushion is very pretty in the videos. I don't find the 'X' distracting, the distribution/size of the flashes seems pretty and even throughout, it is a nice shape and has a 'cushiony' table/crown, I like it.

Thanks for your feedback on the Whiteflash cushion I've selected.
Yeah, I was hoping to see more feedbacks from the experts in here before making a decision.
