Cushion, Asscher face up vs rb in ct

It seems to have strong facet patterns under the table but some more 'crushed ice' effect when tilted (to my eyes, at least) - neither is necessarily better or worse than the other, it is just personal taste :)although I would say that PS generally seems to favour distinct faceting over crushed ice!
Exactly what I want too. AVC would be my first choise. Actually don’t know if I can live without the chunky facets, but they are nowhere to be seen online:angryfire: A decent second choise would be a cushion brilliant, those are hard to find too.

I was looking at GOG website today, and there were no stones witin my specs at all. They had alot of smaller ones. Does anyone know how long it takes them to “ find me a stone” ? Is it weeks, months...
I’m currently on vacation until May so would love to fly to NY and go to GOG and just pull the trigger:lickout::pray:

@diamondweasel I believe James Allen carries AVCs now! Stand by . . .

And here's the video showing how to work JA's diamond inventory selector to narrow it down to AVCs:

Here's one, but it might not be eye-clean: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/2.10-carat-i-color-si2-clarity-sku-3596305

However, maybe contact JA and see if they anticipate getting any AVCs in the foreseeable future that might fit your specs? They can certainly try for you. I know @Rhino can have an AVC custom cut for you. Maybe he could do that and then process the sale through JA somehow?
Thank you! I think I’ll fly to NY when the right kind of stone is found. That way I don’t have to pay 24% VAT on top of the price in the store.

I think the technical term for that is 'Tax Evasion' - which, in the UK, is illegal and different to Tax Avoidance (which is legal) ;))

Mind you, if one was to post all the boxes and paperwork home, and wire the money rather than pay with a credit card over the counter, I guess that might minimise any obvious 'tells'... Theoretically speaking, of course :P

I don’t think it’s tax evasion, it would be equivalent of
buying a suivenire on a trip. But if it comes with fed ex from a business I’ll have to pay the vat also in my coutry. But I’m no expert. Gemstones don’t have to be declared in customs the airport. So it serm legal to me. This is kind of stupid, to have to fly to the US to pick something up instead of these days being able to pay by wire and use Fed ex! But it’s different if aprivate person brings the stone vith them home from a trip. At least i hope it is:shock:

I am afraid avoiding payment of VAT on the diamond would be a tax evasion. The reason is that any souvenirs, as you put it, or actually any other goods bought abroad brought into EU with value above €430, are subject to VAT and duties

See: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/individuals/travelling/entering-eu_en

(Scroll down to „import in travellers own luggage“)
Ok maybe this might be the case. But honestly who goes trough customs after they have been on vacation and bought some nice stuff there. Come on:saint:

The 2.45 video in your other thread seems gorgeous. What do you think?

Yes it does, but I already put a hold on the 2.3 J.
But maybe the other stone will have it’ paperwork by the time I fly over. They said it could be a K in color, so that gives me pause. Planning on setting in platinum with micropave, same as my weddinband.
What do you think? Wich one looks better?

I just chatted with Blue Nile, the US site. The person awnsering said that all their cushions are modified and thus have crushed ice effect!
Thought there was exeptions to this rule, that not all modified cushions have pinfire/ cruched ice... They are few and very far between. If you don't like the crushed ice you need to look for a cushion brilliant.

It took me months to find mine. If you were looking for a 1ct, there is fear more inventory, but as the stone size increases, there are just fewer stones available and even fewer well cut.

I would look at the cushion images on enchanted diamonds by running a search there. They have some nice cuts, not AVC but. It crushed ice.

If you’re still looking I would take a good look at the Octavia for sale preloved. There’s a link in the preloved board. It’s rather nice.

Awesome, we will look forward to pics!

So I’m back from my trip to NY with my stone.
2.3 ct AVC high J, VS2
Jonathan was amazing  So friendly and accommodating! I have a setting in mind too. He made a CAD from just talking to me and looking at my wedding band and it was bang on.
So thank you Jonathan and August Vintage Inc!
Trying to get a hang of taking pictures. The ones i took don’t do it justice!

Awesome, congratulations! :)

They are very hard to photograph well!

Congratulations! It's beautiful:love:
