Hi ya'll,

I'm about to pull the trigger on this stone and would love some thoughts from the community!

https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=5192632459&s=1542738266686

Do you think it'll be ok to compromise on symmetry from Ex to VG? All the other numbers seem to be pretty solid, and the inclusions seem to be in ideal locations. Does anything else stand out to anyone and/or give you cause for concern?

Nice angles but it's impossible to say without a picture or video. i've seen some with "Very Good" symetry and nice angles that are still nice performers but i've seen some real duds too. whats the price on it? are you open to help looking online?

This. It's very risky to buy a stone based on numbers alone without any photos, videos, of performance info like ASET/IS images.

It’s probably good, but what is the return policy? Just in case.

Here is a very rough cellphone pic of it. Thanks in advance everyone.

Granted it's not a great picture but.... quite honestly, for the money you're gonna drop for a 2ct stone, i'd pass and look for something a bit better.

This.

I think this is the reason why the sym is graded VG. Maybe a little bit out of round?

If you are buying blind based on numbers, that is already risky. If you buy on the basis of one image, that’s also risky. Can the vendor source any further images or videos of the stone.

Thanks for the feedback. What’s the thought process for you guys behind this opinion?
The facet patterning is not particularly organized / symmetrical - this means that the light paths within the stone are more random than organised, meaning that (if I understand it correctly) it will not have so much coloured 'fire' from dispersion of white light into fans of its constituent rainbow colours.

(I may be wrong.)

if it is an incredible deal then maybe but i'd still want to see more pics. If you can get a real sparkler right around the same price, why compromise? $20k (which is somewhat around what you're spending i assume) is a LOT of money for something 8mm in size and i'd personally want something that really REALLY performs.

did some quick searching so you could see stones we might recommend.

may or may not be eye clean but nice angles:

again, may be eye clean, may not

slightly higher crown angle (35.5) than usually recommended but it pairs well with the pavillion angle (40.6)

and just for fun, take a look at some super ideal stones:
