Recently returned from Costco and could not believe what they are selling now:

Hearing Aids--they have an audiology dept selling top of the line hearing aids at prices well below what a local audiologist sells them for. They are very professional, have all the testing equipment and again the prices can't be beat.

Caskets--thats right Caskets, not a misprint. On the way out they had some samples on the wall! I could not believe it.

Diamond jewelry- have noticed over the past year they have upgraded their products including Cartier watches. I saw diamond rings in the case for $15-$25K. Yes, some low end stuff, but not as much as before.

Cartier?!

I was visiting my family in Melbourne last year and the Costco there had a LOT of high end jewellery. I was quite surprised and took a photo! img_0050.jpg

Yep, Cartier watches. I saw 2 of them. New Rochelle, NY location.

I saw a Panerai in my local Costco the other day. Costco isn't a Panerai dealer, so I assume it was a grey market watch.

wal-mart also sells caskets!

I went to 5 Costcos in Canada a few days ago and it is a real LOTTERY as to what you get.

Yes there are some rings with diamonds that are bigger than 1.00 carats going up to 1.05 carats
BUT the cut on some of them (the angles and percentages) add up to bad "performance"

There are a lot of diamonds graded by IGI with no cut angle info

For example

1.02 carats, I, VS1 with table = 60%, depth = 60.7% and HCA = 4.6

1.01 carats, I, VS2 with HCA = 6.2 and diameter = 6.38-6.40 which is a bit small for 1 carat diamond

1.06 carats (Canadian), I, VS1, depth = 62.2%, table = 58% - no other cut info

1.02 carats (Canadian), I, VS2, depth 62.5%, table 56%, no cut info

My Costco sells whole lamb. :knockout: :o

Their jewelry has a LIFETIME return policy provided you do not alter it in any way (including sizing). Personally I recommend them highly for anyone proposing as a 'complete surprise' where they don't know the lady will say yes (it happens).

They will search for stones for you and will find one with a good HCA. And their return policy ensures that you can get an IS and check out the light return on it. Or take it to an appraiser.

Price doesn't = quality. And the OP stated that Costco was selling more high end jewelry, so I'm a little confused by this comment.

Shop at the Costco in Delaware to buy your ring

NO SALES TAX

I usually browse the jewelry case while I'm there and noticed the cartier watches for the first time last weekend too. I think they have some pretty decent stuff. Had no idea about that lifetime policy thing. does that also mean no rhodium platings etc. on the no alterations?
