Hi, I’m a new poster from Australia. Joined to do some research on marquise diamonds for a ring I’m planning on having made in the next 3yrs ( I know, it’s a long time away but I’m a planner) for our 20th wedding anniversary. Anyhoo I thought I’d add some photos of my two grown up coloured stone rings.

The opal is from Coober Pedy and has two rhodolite garnets set alongside it. A local manufacturing jeweller had it in her window two years ago when I happened to walk past. Opals are October’s birth stone and it was my birthday the following month - which was October. I normally don’t ask for anything on my birthday but that year I told my husband in no uncertain terms that ring was to be there when I opened my eyes! It is worn nearly every day and I adore it every time I look at it.

I turned 50 last month and my husband wanted to surprise me with a family jewel. His late grandfather spent a lot of time during his life fossicking in Inverell for sapphires - mainly in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. My husband’s grandmother, mother, aunt, cousins and himself were all gifted cut sapphires over the years. My husband’s stone from his 18th birthday we had mounted in his wedding band so he sees it every day. My MIL was given among others a bi-coloured sapphire ring during the 60’s as a birthday present from her parents. My in-laws are now in their late 70’s and offered this ring to my husband to gift to me. Unfortunately both grandparents have long since passed and my MIL can’t recall any details but the ring is beautiful to me for both sentimental and physical reasons.

Lovely!

I’ve just googled the jewellers on the box.

IF I ever get back to NSW (I lived for MANY years in the Hunter & have friends in New Lambton, Maitland, Newcastle etc!) I’m going to check it out!!

I also love the sapphire. Precious family item!

Here is my new queen! 2.26 sapphire and 1.1 and 1.05 diamond shoulders. I love her as she looks antique which was the style I wanted. Love looking at all the rings!! 47D84C2F-ADC0-492B-9E7E-A75CE04858C3.jpeg 11E62147-E5EA-47FA-A26E-35E6EF190B67.jpeg

I love your Queen's shade of blue. Not too dark, not too light to my eyes and brain. Simply lovely!

Welcome fellow Aussie. One day I will make it to Coober Pedy (I have been to Lightening Ridge). They are both gorgeous :D Thanks for sharing the stories too.

Robyn is pretty well known in Newcastle. Was previously in Jesmond 30yrs ago where she made my older sister’s engagement ring. This ring just had me hook, line and sinker st first glance!

Dayum! That is impressive platinum work!!! I hope you appreciate how difficult platinum is to work with and understand how skilled AND talented the jeweller was to pull that off flawlessly! Gorgeous sapphire too!!! 10/10!

Sharing the 14k white gold ring I had made for my remaining hessonite garnet 5mm stone. I'd ordered a matched pair several years ago, but I ended up buying a pair of madeira citrine earrings before I could get the garnets set, and I didn't need the garnets for earrings anymore, so now I have two rings--one yellow gold and one white gold.

My reset pink tourmaline, stone was cut by Barry, setting is 14k white and yellow gold, the head is the original head made by Daniel M and is 14k rose gold and yes I am now aware
that the prongs are not touching the stone...I have to take this back and have that corrected and I also found a small knick in the gold that I want fixed...but I think it turned out ok otherwise

Opal doublet in a simple bezel, on a hammered sterling silver ring. Love the opals with glitter type of sparkle, and how the different flashes of color change as the stone moves so it looks alive. Pics can't capture the beauty!

Since I’ve finally stopped lurking and am now posting, I shall play. My engagement ring has two sapphires, and one of my right hand rings is a blue diamond. I am in love with this blue diamond, and my heart still stops whenever I look at her. I still cannot believe my husband remembered that I mentioned that I saw a woman wearing a blue diamond that I loved back in 2014, and that he looked for the perfect stone until he finally found it in 2018. Sorry to drag a post from so long ago forward, but I am just gobsmacked by this blue diamond!! This is a once in a lifetime stone!! So beautiful, you lucky lucky lady!!:-o:-o:-o
