I have gotten so much help from the community in making the decisions on stone and setting for the engagement ring I am about to pull the trigger on. I have decided to go with Steven Kirsch for the Halo setting (similar to some I have seen here with a few minor adjustments). I need to make a final decision on stone and have narrowed it down to the following choices, (I know its still a lot of choices but I originally had 15+!).

The cut is the most important, followed by clarity (these are all deemed "eye clean"), then color. These are all close enough in size where any differences are not extremely noticeable (although 1.5-1.58 is a bit of a jump). I am leaning towards the first one but the James Allen stones seem nice as well and I'm not sure if I should consider them as well. I am open to other options/vendors as well if you come across a 1.5C stone similar to these.

Diamondseeker and others if you have some time this weekend to weigh in it would be greatly appreciated. I hope to pull the trigger on Monday and get the ball rolling. You will all be rewarded with pictures of the CAD and finished product in another thread.
Thanks!

1. At those clarities, in those sizes eyeclean should not be a concern, esp. if you're setting in a halo that will mask a good bit of the pavilion view

2. A halo is a tremendous size-equalizer - any slight differences in size between these stones will be completely hidden by the extra width of the halo, so no need to agonise over sub-0.2mm differences..

3. All the stones look nice. Would request hearts pic retake for the second WF (1.54 F VS) and the second JA (1.58). Don't think the 1.50 from JA is a good fit if you're looking for a H&A, as I don't think angling during photography is the only issue, but if you like the stone doesn't hurt to ask for a retake - I gotta say I love the thick arrows on this one!

I think you'd likely see that difference in centerstone size if you've got both rings in-hand and are comparing them next to each other, but from afar, or when you've only got the one - I reckon you'd have to have superhuman vision & memory to remember that one had a bigger center! Certainly the difference would not be memorable to my eyes, so I'd do it - 5k makes for a substantial setting, or maybe a decent pair of studs, or better yet put it toward the honeymoon 8)

Yssie,
I think we are on the same wavelength, and I believe my GF (soon to be fiance) would agree as well.
I found a 1.327 G VS1 with an HCA of 1.9, also from Whiteflash, I think I am going to pick this one up and get the ring design started.
Thanks for your help!

Congrats! I hope your FI-to-be loves it (I think she will) please do come back w/ setting design pics and handshots!

And for additional reassurance - take a look through these two threads that were recently re-posted in SMTB -

The OP upgraded centre from 0.52ct in the first thread to 0.93 in the second, same halo design. The difference is - visible, against the same finger, but it doesn't scream to me from her pics - and that's a difference of almost half a carat!
