Thank you for sharing all of this eye candy with us... wish I were there browsing with you!

I wish so too! I wonder what would happen if a group of us from PS attended a jewelllery show together? We’d probably drive the exhibitors crazy! Some more eye candy for you, from local jewelllers at UltraLuxe.

Oh wow... I think those first earrings are my favorite. How could one not feel like a million bucks wearing them. Plus, I love when a piece has two different varieties of the same gem. :mrgreen2:

@icy_jade have you seen Wriston's newest post? That Spess looks juicy!!!!! I want you to go look at it! I am just nosey!

I happened to be there this afternoon. Nice color and good price but has an inclusion that I didn’t like.

Thanks Icy! You've satisfied my curiosity!

Trying to find a spess for my sister and it's proving to be a challenge! They are dirty stones!!!

It’s not easy to get nice bright/open color spess that are also clean…

Got these btw. Have been so busy that I haven’t even had time to look at them at home in normal lighting but I shall do that tmr.

Not the best pics cos I really wasnt in the mood/was too tired. Stones totally not aligned and with that irritating reflection…

spess color really isn’t too bad irl. I think my phone gives it brown or could be my black phone case too.

Post more pics when you get them home Icy!!!

Did you get everything on that tray or just the Jade set?

Hehe more rubellite???

Spess is pretty!!!! I'm liking orange more than I ever knew I would!

I am on Ban Island. I have three things to do up. And I am extending the recent jadeite necklace Wriston did for me. I intend to wear it with the butterfly at the back (hence no brooch setting).

Of all the Jewellery settings, Wriston does the best work. Very fine.

I do love Wriston and his deals though. Very good prices too!

I actually think the exhibitors might be happier, as more buyers would bid the prices up if they all want the same few pieces.

@voce I was imagining the excitement the questions, the loupes…

Is anyone going to the San Mateo gem show over Thanksgiving weekend?

@icy_jade this one calls out to me!!!

The roval shape is cute and it's a nice color!!!

@mellowyellowgirl Oh there she is!! I definitely feel like that is in the pink category. They all tend to have that earthy/dusky rose vibe. The cut is glorious, and the mounting is beautimous. I quite love it, actually!!

Haha I was a bit silly back in the day.

They say pink, I expected pink! Like pink pink. This pink

Now I understand that it's a "zircon pink" which is an entire different kettle of fish!

Have I seen your pink zircon, Casey? I'd love to if you're inclined to share it. :)

I know I shared the ring somewhere but here are some photos of the loose stone and its many moods. It’s one of my largest stones at 2.5cts.

Edit: can’t seem to post the link so will try to share tomorrow.

Love this, aside from the gorgeous center spessartite, I love the multi layers of halo colors.

Bringing this thread back so I can ask a random question!

@Autumn in New England @Avondale @Crimson and anyone else

Am I crazy or are these pictures of different rings???

One some of the pics there’s metal backing on the ring but on others there aren’t? Colour also seems to vary significantly.

Yikes! I see what do you mean @mellowyellowgirl . From the front the sapphire looks pinkish, but from the side it look almost brown - and the certificate says it’s light pastel pink? Sapphire is pleochroic but this is a bit much for me. Could it also be a difference in a lighting conditions?
Whatever it is, it doesn’t inspire confidence.

@mellowyellowgirl Ah!! You have a VERY good eye. I missed that the first 3 times I looked. It does indeed appear that a cup was added at some point, either that or the photography dept. inadvertently edited it out in one pic. I doubt they're different rings, as it would be difficult to procure two 18ct pads that are so similar (even if it looks like a simple pink sapphire to me). I think the color variation is being caused by different angles, lighting, editing. The real issue I have with this ring is that the rose gold all seems to have tarnished - badly. You know what that means? The copper-to-gold ratio in the alloy was off...

ETA: The cert also has a fade note. Some pads and yellow sapphires have unstable color centers that can fade when put away, for instance, and require UV to be restored. That could be the reason for the color change. I had both my pad and yellow sapphire checked for this, because it's a big nope in my book. The LMHC does not recognize those stones as true pads.

ETA 2: Ok, so in looking at it more... in the photo without the cup, the rose gold is pristine. In the photo with the cup, it's terribly oxidized. So I imagine the cup was added later to try and give the stone a bit more saturation (in that case, they should've used rose gold) or to hide a window.

If you're crazy, then I'm crazy, too. But I think @Autumn in New England is correct - the listing contains photos taken at different times, and the cup was added at a later point.

The only thing I can add is, did GRS test for colour stability back in 2018? I know they do now, but I don't know when they started. If it was more recent, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the present comment, but would also want to know whether the colour is stable.

On a side note, last year I bought a fountain pen with rose gold accents. You can imagine my disappointment when the rose gold tarnished, only, it didn't tarnish evenly across, but in black spots, just from sitting in its box. sigh
