Hey just curious if it is possible for Canadians to get the wire transfer discount from WhiteFlash? I'm in the market for a e-ring and am looking to buy from either WF or GOG.

Thanks,

Travis

I'm a Canadian and I got the discount from GoG. Went to my bank and it was easy peasy.

GoG was fabulous to work with as well. I was really nervous about how it was all going to go down, not being able to see the ring in person, but it worked out very well indeed. No regrets.

I kinda feel like they are my peeps now. Wish I could just drop in on 'em.

Thanks for the reply! I've heard great things about GOG and your post makes me think I should call them up. I just wish their website was a little easier to work with. They don't seem to have many diamonds listed on their website or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Did you just call them to discuss what you wanted?

Well I started an email conversation. I may have talked to Sarah on the phone a few times, but mostly we went through emails. A lot of emails.

It takes a while, but then all good things do.

They were great about getting back to me quickly, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I learned a fair bit as well.

I got a video for diamond comparisons, and also some email photos of it. Also the ASET and a few others (can't recall which ones) so I knew the stats on my diamond. Put it this way, I was so confident about my diamond that I had GoG set it for me in a setting I chose (ordered from elsewhere) before it was sent to me. That was a bit of a gamble, but it all turned out splendidly. I had the diamond appraised independently and there was no concern from the independent appraiser that I had got what I paid for. The appraised value was quite a bit higher than what I paid, but maybe that is the norm.

It really wouldn't hurt to send an email and strike up a conversation. I think you will find them very approachable.

It was so painless, I may never buy another diamond in a brick and mortar store again.

Go ahead, do it now. Tell them Begonia sent you

Also, if they don't have a diamond on their website that interests you, no worries. They can bring them in. I was after an EC, and not much was in stock at that time (not uncommon with EC's). They can bring diamonds in from elsewhere.

What are you waiting for? Go. ( )

Thanks for the information. I just need to decide what to order now....

I'm pretty sure any of the most recommended vendors like HPD, GOG, BGD, WF, ERD accept international wire transfers and that those transfers qualify the buyer for discounts.

Hi,

Canadian WF customer and yes they do take wires from CA. I've bought several pieces from them including my e-ring and it was no problem at all and I did get their wire transfer discount.

I have used wire with GOG, BGD, and WF from Canada.

Does anyone know the customs situation when ordering from 1 of these places to canada? Or is it simply federal and provincial sales tax for a loose stone or is there also duty and other expenses?

I only paid taxes and shipping.

I paid the HST for Ontario and shipping (when I've ordered items) has been free.

HI:

Wire transfers--I recently paid $42 bucks for the service. WOTever.

cheers--Sharon

Thanks for the responses. I actually sent money to BGD with the wire transfer the other day. Think the bank charged me $25 for the service.

Thanks for all the replies.

I don't mean to resurrect old threads but how does it work with the wire transfer and conversion from CA to US funds? Does WF give you the total in US funds and your bank just does the calculation and conversion for you when wiring the money?

I'm going to be ordering a ring through WF in a couple months and I'm wondering how the whole process works from here in Canada and I need to make sure I have the funds in the budget for things like conversions, taxes at the border, etc.

BGD gave me the total in US funds with all the information needed for the wire transfer. I went to the bank and gave them the information. They told me what it would cost in Canadian funds. I verified the information she typed in and then we sent it.
