Most gemstone identification requires equipment to assess. It’s impossible to identify just from a photo.
Sometimes the colour and appearance helps but many gemstone varieties come in a range of colours.
Corundum, garnet, tourmaline, Beryl and quartz all come in many colours.
Sometimes eye visible inclusions can be helpful with identification but usually a gemologist tests various aspects to determine the type including Specific gravity, loupe or microscope to view inclusion, spectrometer, polariscope, refractometer, dichroscope and even UV reaction and magnetism.
